::handshake:: Thanks R.T. .... I'm trying to think up a special occasion that warrants a drink.... ::shrug:: No holidays for a while no birthdays for a long while.... ::hmm:: Maybe the 4th of July would warrant this year? ::shrug::

The 250th Anniversary sounds like a good reason. 🇺🇸

Derby, you say?
How about this Woodford from 2023 which commemorated the 50th anniversary of the win by Secretariat. W/o looking, who can name the jockey? No, it wasn't Willie Shoemaker or Laffitt Pincay.

I've got the 150th from 2024, Ike, and I won't open it either . . . probably. I bet some bourbon/Woodford connoisseur has a collection of these Derby commemorative bottles.

I’m not drinking just yet but this is what I’m having in an hour or so. I used to be kind of leery about blended bourbon but I’ve liked every blend that I’ve had from this company including their blended rye. They really know how to do it right.

The knife is a Viper Moon from Maniago, Italy.

Wild Turkey 101, preferably in a clean glass but a jelly jar works too (Leroy Jethro Gibbs style).

Took a little tour yesterday of the Whiskey Acres distillery in Dekalb, Illinois. Had a total of 5 samples and these 2 were my favorites.

The grains that they use to distill the whiskey are all grown right there on their own property. It was a fun day.

Thanks Ike and John.

This isn’t Whiskey related but since it happened on the same trip as the distillery trip, I thought it might fit in here.

The trip revolved around visiting a childhood friend that I grew up with. He has had this Franklin Mint Harley Davidson knife collection for a long time. He sent me home with it as a result of some downsizing that him and his wife are doing.

Needless to say, I am honored.

That is a very nice gift! I've seen a lot of nice stuff over the years that came from Franklin Mint.

Nice on all accounts RS.
The little distillery in Decalb and even more the set of Harley knives. I’m assuming your friend had a Harley at one point as well? I am not a partaker in the spirits. Always enjoyed working in the industry. You were only about a half hour from my place in Decalb.

Thanks fellers.

Steve, I had no idea you lived in Dekalb. You are correct about my friend. He has owned 2 Harley Davidsons but he has a Kawasaki dirt bike now. I wish I had a picture of his first Harley. He had it set up to look like the bike that Peter Fonda rode in the movie “Easy Rider” only it was a much newer model. It was a beautiful bike.
