Mike... thanks for bumping up the thread with that gorgeous jack... but sorry I can't help with confirming if that was contracted with NYKC... ... but I certainly agree that Rodger is a great source for superb knives!

After a bit of a dry spell... this week I received a bunch of "first" additions to my collection...
starting with my first quill knife... a 3" NYKC with what I think are very old picked bone handles... the likes I have not seen on other NYKC knives... with also crimped bolster and a rather unique (it seems) sheepfoot shaped blade. I hoping someone here can verify if this is an early NYKC or not?... and if the blade is original, swapped or possibly reshaped?


plus an Ulster Knife Co. cattle knife with my first classic example of peachseed bone handles...


...and at first I had none... and now I have two Wharncliffes... both of the shadow pattern variety with MoP handles


the Ulster Knife Co. at 2⅞” has definitely seen some use but I picked it up pretty cheap...


...but the little 2½” Walden Knife Co. whittler looks brand new with what I believe are still the original factory edges...

Ken the jigging is indicative of early NYK. I have a farmers jack with very similar handles. My favorite jigging.

Nice scores Ken ... I would definitely call it a quill knife - that bone is awesome and about as nice as the American made quills imo.. Peachseed jigging is so attractive and for me the easiest to recognize.. and those wharncliffes are sweet!!

Some great knives being shown. Mike the Prizlaff is amazing. And Ken the Walden is top shelf. Great show guys. Thanks for posting them.

Roger Cunningham already posted this knife in the scout thread before I bought it from him, but I'll add it here as well.
It's 3 5/8 closed New York Knife Co. "official" BSR 1 scout knife. Levine's guide says that NYK Co. was the official scout knife maker until 1922, which included having "be prepared" on the shield. I goofed up... a few months back I picked up a Walden Knife Co. invoice which I was waiting for my next Walden knife purchase to photograph together. Well by the time I finally obtained the knife I forgot all about the invoice when I posted the new addition. Since the Waldens a far & few in between I re-photograph my last addition which also happens to be on of my favorites with the paper...


...also I have added another Wharncliffe... a slightly used NYKC 2¼"... yet again with MoP handles, but with nickel silver bolsters too...
(shown with my newly acquired Keen Kutter folding rule)...

Picked up a more traditional Electric Cutlery Co. (c.1910-20) easy open jack with nice jigged bone...
(the other Electric Cut I have is posted way back on page 1.)
What's nice about this one compared to my other EO's is the tip of the main spear blade still extends beyond the indent...
however what I noticed about these jacks is the original owners seemed to favor using the pen blade...

Finally got a knife that goes with the Prince Albert tobacco tin... an Ulster 58OT "Old Timer"...

Added one more of the Schrade Walden open stock line in a view pack... № 832... a 3 5/16" stockman with an unusual simulated wood grain Delrin handles. According to the catalogs... this pattern with the oval shield was only offered in 1972 & '73 with the SW tang stamp...

You are showing some real beauties here, Ken. Very nice knives.
The Walden paper is nice too, and I like that very sanitary Keen Kutter rule.

Here is an old Hammer Brand N.Y. single blade, equal end, jack with swell center.
Still a decent old knife. I can't call it an honest old knife ..... it's been buffed .....

...and that's a fine looking NYKC Hammer Brand... even if it is buffed... at least the blades are not pitted!
I have a NYKC whittler that somebody buffed the he!! out of... but looks odd because of the pitting on the blades & springs... however the sparkling green celluloid handles makes up for all that...
(that too was posted on the first page of this thread)...
