I picked this 61050R at the Ga. show this past weekend. Big strong knife and I was attracted to it because of the bail as well.

Hey daus!
Congratulations, great knife! Just noticed your location, Malone. We're almost neighbors, you are north and east of us over in Washington County.

Treefarmer hello. Retired sodbuster myself.
i have been wanting an 88 but they usually are pricey, I was tickled pink to win that for that price.

Two recent pickups, the 1st is a Tested GREENBONE 6240 dogleg trapper, the 2nd is a W R Case & Sons 62026LP in ROGERS BONE.
I got the doctors knife from Ray "Paladin" on AAPK.
Thanks for looking.

Thanks Larry, The W R Doctor's knife is only 2 7/8" closed. This is the 1st one of these I have seen. Jim Sargent shows one on page 89 of Volume 7 although with celluloid handles. As is the case with a lot of the W R Case & Sons knives, this one has the pattern number stamped on the small blade tang.

It's to note how the earlier it seems (for the most part) for a pattern, the more detail was incorporated. In the case of the Dr's knife, the curve in the handle to fit the hand, like a pruner does.At this time, more companies, more competition and demand, until towards the Depression.

Good point, Lyle. It has a swayback like a congress. At only 2 7/8" hard for me to imagine what the knife was actually used for.
