All About Pocket Knives

Camillus #26 Folding Hunter, on the bay, and for a lot less than the BIN prices I've seen for this model. I have a Camillus-made Buck version of this knife, (#317 Wrangler), but saw this and fell in love with the simulated stag handles and just had to have it. It's factory sharp, both blades are tight, and it snaps shut like a gator, just like most other Camillus knives do. Came with a nice heavy duty sheath, (not stock I'm sure), to which I added a piece of Big Sur surf jade, (jade found in the ocean). Compared to the Buck #317 it is just as well built, and is even a somewhat heavier duty version of the same frame due to a beefier master blade. There are differences in the grind on the master, and slight differences in the angle of the bolsters, but both of them came off of the same union production line, (I think I like the CC version best for now, but the "new" hasn't worn off for me yet). I believe this knife was made in the 80's, but whenever it was made it's a real looker IMHO, plus it feels great in my hand. I'll add a side by side photo of the #26 & #317 for comparison, I'll also add a closeup showing the different grinds on the master blades. This one will be in my EDC rotation for some time to come I think.

Thanks, I'm likin' it, a lot. I help run a community center up in Big Sur, so I know all (most) of the jade divers at Jade Cove, so I have a lot of surf jade lying around. That piece has a lot of translucence to it, and it looks good on the sheath. I always carry a "pocket piece" of unworked jade anyway, (along with various knives), so now I have one for my belt too. That's the way that stone came out of the ocean, the only tooling being the hole for a necklace.
Really liking (loving) the knife too, really happy I decided to take that "plunge".

...bk, that's one of my favorite Camillus patterns- kept one along with a #31 in my tacklebox for years!!!............... .................

Picked these up today. The bird/trout knife is made in Finland.
