All About Pocket Knives

The totem pole knives came in nickel-silver and bronze.

I have seen one sell for close to four hundred dollars.

I used to have a mint example in nickel-silver, but no longer have it.

The moose patterns or equal-end jacks are very nice.

Not to my knowledge, but nothing really surprises me where Robeson is concerned.

The Stevenson knives had no tang stamp, but were marked on the bail. STEVENSON-U.S.A. and STEVENSON-45 are the only marks of which I am aware, but if one showed up with U.S.M.C. on the handle, I wouldn’t be at all surprised

One of my all time favorite patterns and I have never owned one.

I saw one at a knife show in just about the same condition as the OP knife, though the handles were darker, almost black, Asking price was $100.00. I asked another dealer I knew if that was a good buy and they told me I could do better.I didn't buy it and have yet to see another for sale.

That was in about 1992.

Beautiful knife and definitely in your collecting wheelhouse.

Near as I can tell you knife was made from 1940 to 1964 as per Tom Kalcevic's publication.

I have a 622 pattern with that same stamp. 3" closed, the barehead jack with the clip. 622026

I also have a 622 with just a five digit number 62226 (early) that has a cap bolster and a shield with a spear master blade. 3" closed. This knife was made and poorly stamped apparently between 1922 and 1939.

Thanks FRJ I am very happy with it, the blades are very tight and it has a very solid feel to it. Yours look great, too bad about the weak stamping. The barehead jack with the clip, 622026 looks very "minty" Great photos!

Both knives are nice and snappy but yes, the barehead jack is in pretty good shape.

Here is a Robeson Senator shadow. 742198. 3 1/2" closed.
All four blades are stamped on this beautiful little pearl.
Brass coined liners and Nickel Silver pins.
Half stops and long pulls X four.

Here is my pearl Robeson 2 3/4" four blade Senator, pattern number 74304. Superb workmanship to get 4 blades into this tight space with no rubs, smooth action, half stops and no play.
I posted it For Sale over 3 years ago but so far no takers and no offers, which really surprises me. It is such a fine example of Robeson quality.

This arrived very recently in a group of pocket knives that I bought. This particular pocket knife was NOT the target of my purchase. It is a ROBESON ShurEdge 023171 (1911-1921), two blades (one is broken), 3 1/4" closed, three tang stamps, all metal pocket knife. It needed a little cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

This pocket knife arrived very recently in a large group of pocket knives that I bought. I did NOT purchase the group to obtain this particular pocket knife. However, I was quite surprised and pleased that it was in the group. It is a ROBESON ShurEdge, pattern 633728, three blades, two tang stamps, 3 5/16" closed, pocket knife. I am not sure what material the handles are made of. But, I do believe that they are bone. The main blade tang stamp reads "ROBESON - ShurEdge - U.S.A." The other tang stamp, on the other side of the main blade, reads "633728" (pattern #). There is writing and there are remains of writing on the main blade, possibly on both sides. What I can "read", and I'm NOT 100% sure, looks like CQX(?) or COX(?), underlined and over 2.25 (possibly a salesman sample?). It's in EXCELLENT CONDITION and did NOT require any cleaning. I didn't want to risk erasing the writing. I took some pictures and here it is.

Yours is an older and smoother knife.
If I can describe yours as a tear drop jack I think I can date yours at 1922-1939.

I'm not sure where to date mine. Probably in the 60s some where.

Scrolling through old posts FRJ, and couldn't help notice some of the prettiest bone I've EVER seen. Wow do I love that kind of bone. Funny about the pin spinning malfunction. Too many beers for lunch maybe. But still a fabulous looker all around. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmnnnnnn.
