Joe,here's a similarly etched pearl Whittler.Tang stamped Learkind & Daevel Co.Milwaukee.Same era.Talking to a couple of other collectors we speculate it was to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Washington's passing.

Roger: That's another killer knife!

Here's a H. Boker & Co's Improved Cutlery. Not a clean etch, but it is an OLD one. Threw in a picture of the back of the tang because it is one of the larger tree stamps that you'll rarely see (plus, I just thought it was cool looking ).

Second knife is a Heinr. Boker & Co. Baumwerk-Solingen Germany-Alemania.

Valley Forge large lockback banana pattern with a Valley Forge etch.

Maher & Grosh half trapper with Fur Fish & Game etch.

Great looking EZ, Greedy. It sure does have an old time feel to it. Any idea about what the dates would roughly be?

Beechtree: Thanks. That one is circa 1869-1914.

Roger: Two trophies like that deserve 2 . Both are excellent, though I particularly like the the VF lockback.

Roger did Boker make a similar knife pattern?

Roger: That is a real good question. I don't own or ever recall seeing a H. Boker knife made in that lockback, banana pattern. I dug around tonight in some of my old catalogs & hardware advertisments and couldn't find an example of one either. So, I guess the short answer is I don't know.

I had to look up "Staunch" in the dictionary to make sure I knew what it meant, and it means strong, loyal friend. I guess that about sums up your knife. Interesting. ___Dave

I posted this knife under the "Got Shields" thread but figured it belonged here as well. The master blade has a double etch - both the mark and pile sides

This is Simonds Saw & Steel Co (circa - 1922-1940) though the company still makes saws today and are located in Fitchburg MA. This Pen knife at 3 1/2" has a double etch on master blade - both mark and pile sides - but no tang stamps which I assume was in lieu of the mark side etch with company name which changed from Simonds Mfg Co around 1922. The mark side etch is quite clear but the "Saws" part of the pile side etch reading "Saws - Files - Hack Saws" has some tarnish in that area. Handle covers are faux stag or jigged bone of black composition - not one of my favorites handles but this one shows no sign of shrinkage to date. I understand some of their knives were made by Camillus. Thanks for looking!!
