All About Pocket Knives

Here’s an oldie, Brooklyn NY company Lever Cutlery. Sterling handles have some dents but still a rare little knife. Not a switchblade but a lever opening knife.

Wow g, I don't think I have ever handled a lever opening knife. Would love to find one. Very sweet!

I have this sterling handled Keen Kutter lobster. It is a salesman sample, also with an etched pattern number, but, was unfortunately the victim of some bad storage.

Recently this pocket knife joined my all metal handle collection. It is one of my "GRAIL" pocket knives. It is a CASE, single blade pocket knife, with a cap lifter/bottle opener. I haven't decided if I'm going to replace the missing blade guard/spacer in the handle. This particular CASE pocket knife pattern was manufactured by Schrade in the Bridgeport, Connecticut plant. I gave it a minor cleaning, took some pictures and here it is. The last picture is from a 1934 catalog and explains the three CASE wire handle/frame patterns. Now to find the other two CASE patterns. Thanks Dan, the fat spear is my favorite blade on the easy opens, I think I have about a half dozen now with that combo.

This is the most recent arrival to my all metal handle knives collection. It's another, THE W & H CO. - USA - NEWARK NJ, single blade pocket knife. According to the GOINS book, "c 1870-1959 Whitehead & Hoag was founded in 1870. They went out of business about 1959. This was an advertising specialties firm; the knives were made for them by a variety of cutlery manufacturers." It measures just a hair under 2 1/4" closed and just a hair over 3 1/4" open. It is completely magnetic. It needed a bit of cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is. The last picture is of an article I found in "The Dairy Record" from 1922.

Today I add this pocket knife to my all metal handle collection and to my "general" CAMILLUS pocket knife collection. It is a 1960 CAMILLUS, single blade, 3 tool pocket knife. It required a little cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

George Schrade had a ton of patents for knives! He was a real inventor.
