Ya know, it's probably a good thing for my wallet I can't step out my backdoor and shoot whenever I want! Remembering the hours and rounds I used to put through my Daisy Red Rider as a kid (yup, out the backdoor and shoot), if I was able to do that today, I'd go broke buying ammo.

Now that looks like a lot of fun right there!

Had a great time! Only second time out with the Uberti. I am seeing a slight improvement in my shooting, but still could use A BUNCH of practice. Darn, I have to go shooting some more.

Question. Now that you've shot it a few times what do you think of Taylor's full checkered grips? I'm a while from getting what I want but that is something I'm undecided on. All my six guns to date have smooth grips. Ruger autos are checkered but not sure.

Bill, I can’t speak to the 6 gun, but you mentioned the Ruger autos, those I can speak to. My commander 1911 came with checkered rosewood grips. They are absolutely beautiful. But I hate them. Carrying IWB (not a concern for your revolver) they’re like a cheese grater on your side. And I didn’t feel they gave much traction on recoil. I changed them out to hogue wrap arounds.

On a revolver they may be the cat’s meow. ::shrug::

I think I prefer the looks of smooth grips, but obviously checkered grips weren't a deal breaker for me.
Honestly I haven't really given them much thought while my finger is on the trigger. Guess that's a good thing. If the feel was enough to get me thinking about that instead of the sight picture, they'd have to go.
That said, I've never shot a single action with smooth grips, so I have no idea if they're slippery with sweaty palms. Has never been an issue with the checkered grips. ::shrug::

My old Mark II target was that way. I switched to a target thumbrest wood grip. I have the stock checkered black grips on my 22/45 and like them. Ruger SR is a softer rubber more like aftermarket grips. But I've never really felt I needed more grip on my sixes.

I also have small hands and am a big fan of black powder so I definitely prefer the smaller navy grips over the army. I would like to get a modern caliber with Navy size grips. My dads 1851 Navy replica just seems to point naturally for me and that is a joy.

Y'all keep showin' those evil black rifles and I'm about to get the fever for one. ::hmm:: I said before walnut and blue steel and I also remember sayin' something about wheel guns a few years ago and now I tote a plastic lookin' 9 under my shirt everyday. People do change, I'm guilty apparently.

I never thought I’d want one of them black rifles either, blue and walnut is my game, and stainless ain’t bad neither. Until I shot one of my buddies AR rifles, it was a hoot and the most ergonomic rifle I’d shot.

So a couple of years ago I did the Johnny Cash thing and I got it one piece at a time! Saved a lot of money and built a way better gun than what I could have bought for hundreds more.

And it was easy too. As one of my friends says, “they’re like grown man’s leggos!”

You could also try, if you want to save a pile of dough, a replica air ar...
Crosman makes a full auto ar, called the R1. Looks like they based it off the m4 commando, with front sight removed. Looks completely accurate to the "real" one, just shoots 4.5mm steel bb's.
1400 rpm, at 435 fps looks pretty brutal, wouldn't want to be target practice :D .
Also make a full auto pistol, looks like the Beretta 92...

Shooting buddy of mine bought this one that I’m holding. It is the Brownell’s semi-auto replica of the M16A1 like I carried as a young enlisted guy and young LT in the 1970’s. I bought an Anderson lower and CCMG parts kit two months ago to get started building one. What I have found is that due to the current riots all over America, all the manufacturers are on long term back order. I need the upper (have the buttstock and complete lower parts) but Windham Weaponry, Palmetto Arms, and Brownells are out of stock on 20”barreled uppers with the Machined in carrying handle and A1 style rear and front sites. Guess I’m going to have to be patient and wait it out. Good part is once found I can mail order a complete upper without the FFL involvement. OH
Ps. Colt is back producing and selling exact copies of Vietnam era M16 and M16A1 replicas, but they run $2500.00 each. I found one of each but passed!

Yep.... I shot a mountain of BBs through my Daisy. The one I completely wore out was a model 25 pump action rifle.....
Ahhhhhhh...... that was something I enjoyed. We shot kudzy vines in two,we shot gum wrappers, cigarette butts, and even snakes down in the creek. Of course no matter where you hit those jokers, all we ever did was make 'em mad...... FUN!!
