Free standing and two-handed it's not as tough to shoot as you might think - actually its quite a hoot!
The heft at 5.3 lbs helps tame the recoil
That said I cannot think of any practical or logical reason to own one except perhaps "Just Because"

This is one of my users. Case XX red bone. Pattern stamp is 06247PEN. It has a single back spring... comfortable in the pocket.

My yellow CV penknife loosened up.
I guess they just don't make them like they used to...

Betcha they still fix 'em like they used to (if you're talking about a recent Case) - maybe consider sending it off to PA for a tune-up?

CASE is usually pretty good about repairing or replacing any defective products but you are right when you say they don't make 'em like they used to. In some respects they are better and in other respects.....not as good.....I guess it's all a matter of individual preference and opinion.

This is one of my favorite EDCs, it has seen extensive use for about a year now and performed very well. Of course I bought it because it is reminiscent of the old Case knives I grew up with. The CV blade takes a wicked edge and the knife is still as tight as the day I first dropped it in my pocket.

Charlie - I have always liked the Sodbuster pattern but never had a Case. The patina on yours is just about perfect! Did you do something special to get that or did it just happen?

Rookie, that Tuna Valley is beautiful! Ya can't go wrong with GEC products.

Since we've been seeing a couple Sodbuster Jr.s, I thought I'd get some pics of this one. It hasn't seen the inside of a pocket or a moment's use, it's been kept in the box since the day it was purchased. That, my friends, has taken a supreme effort of will because it is such a "hand friendly" folder!

Mel, I didn't do anything special....just used it for a steak knife, sliced tomatoes, peeled apples, quartered oranges, etc. Every once in a while when I clean & sharpen it I use a dab of Brasso on the blade, it takes off the superficial stains and leaves the deep patina. The CASE Sodbuster Jr. yellow CV version isn't a terribly expensive knife (less than $30.00), you should grab yourself one.....you won't be disappointed. Bang for the buck, it's hard to beat.

Thanks Squatch. Actually it is made by Queen Cutlery. GEC made the Tuna knives from 2009-mid 2012, and then Queen has made all of them since.

I didn't know that. Ya learn something new every day. Six of one and a half dozen of the other.....it's hard to go wrong with Queen products as well. I have several Queen folders and a couple of Queen fixed blades of varying ages and they are all high quality knives.
