I've gotten rid of much of my die-cast, but it sure looks like I might be getting back into collecting radios. Here's one that arrived today. It'll be my "beater" set.

So how is the reception on it.

Today I picked up this (in the mail) "Oregon Trail" plate to add to my sub--collection of "Wild West" states. Looking forward to adding it to my collection.

I haven't tested it extensively, because I've been mostly listening to Tigers games. But it does pretty well when using the speaker or when using the earphone to listen to AM. FM reception with the earphone plugged in can is best described as "erratic." I think that might have something to do with the earphone jack being so close to the external antenna.

Going through my garage and not more than about 2 square feet left of empty space I need to stop collecting EVERYTHING!!!!

Picked up 5 plates to add to my collection.
First 3 - Delaware, Alaska & Rhode Island were the last 3 I needed to have at least one of all 50 states.

Minnesota was old & cheap.

And Pennsylvania was so strange that I had to have it. Didn't know they had Tigers in Pennsylvania but ya learn something knew every day.
And yes, I checked here, http://www.worldlicenseplates.com/hp.html and they really did make these plates in Pennsylvania.

I should say I'll start collecting some wisdom but that's just for grown-ups.

Anyways, it may very well be a few colored coins & it's the chicken's fault.

Ran across this colored 1/2 oz silver coin from 2017 with chickens on it & so I started looking around and I found one with a lower price than the others of it's class so I grabed it.
I'm a real sucker for a good deal.

So then I did some more looking around and found out that there is a whole set of 12 of these.
Can you see where this is going?

So then I thought... "Hey!!!!" I could collect these and then make or buy myself a wooden clock and sink the coins into the wood as the 12 hour markers. I have a couple of old wooden bier kegs & the lids of them would probably work well for a "DIY Coin Clock Project". Which would be a fun project to do IMO.

So those are the thoughts in my chicken sized brain right now. As of now, I only have the chickens coin. (in the mail)

The picture of the set is just so you get an idea of what the completed set would look like. These are not mine. I only have one of them. (the chickens)

Oh, and these are the 12 Chinese Zodiac signs. Which I don't really get into but I like some of these coins anyways. The dogs, pigs, horses, tiger, rabbits, monkeys & snake all look nice. And of course the chickens. I'v always liked chickens.

Not sure of your exact location, but if you are in Bavaria and got that 17" snowfall, hope you are doing okay. You know that it is a serious event when both the Munich airport shuts down, and Bayern Munich FC game is cancelled.

Yes, I'm a Chicken & Turkey fan. Those advertising knives sound very interesting. I've never seen any of them over here though.

Yes we live in Bayern but in the northern part of Bayern so we only got about 4 Inches or so. Thank God!

Add: I bought 2 more of those Chicken coins. Hen & Rooster + 3 chicks is like my family as we have three children so I will pick up 5 of these coins over the next weeks or months & give one to each family member as a good luck charm. I have 3 now. One is here & two are in the mail. So my kids will get one of them for Christmas & then I will look for two more of them for the wife & myself.

At least a silver coin will ALWAYS have some value, as opposed to 90% of what I have collected... ... Try getting rid of 5000+ books without the use of a fire pit/burn barrel, recycling bin or just plain giving them away.... and even then, is that a good solution... almost nobody wants them if they are free... ...

That's a lot of books!

Over here in Germany, a lot of people give their unwanted books to the animal shelters and they sell them at book flea markets to raise money for the animal shelters. That's where we have aquired many of our books. Maybe an animal shelter or some other orgaisation (Red Cross) (Church) (4-H) (Boy Scouts) would take them off your hands to sell them as a fund raiser. Just a thought.

Upon retiring I moved from CA to KY. I decided not to bring my extensive book collection cross country. Similar to TopDog I had difficulty donating them. Ultimately the books went to the newly expanded Public Library.

Picked up a few new additions to add to my plates collection. They will probably lay around the house till spring rolls around though. I work enough in the cold (unheated warehouses) so when I am at home in the winter I prefer to stay close to the wood stove.

I'm not an Auburn fan but I do like the looks & condition of the plate & it was priced right. Think I'll be adding some more University plates to my collection in the future.
I'm especially happy about the 1963 Louisiana plate. Oldest one in my collection now. Next oldest one is a 1964 Texas plate. Found out that "POST" stands for Privately Owned Semi Trailer.

I believe I'll be putting the "old" plates (before 1991) together as a small group on one of the carport walls, then surround them with some University plates on the outskirts. Kind of an "Old School" / "New School" theme. Somehow saying before 1991 or up to 1990 doesn't even sound "old" but it was 30+ years ago. Guess I'm getting"old". I believe, at least for younger folks in their 20's & 30's, anything pre 1991 is probably considered "old".

Add: Did some quick researching, seems like it's 20, 25 or 30 years in the U.S. (depending on the state) and 30 years in Germany. So pre 1991 or up to 1990 (the year I graduated from High School) seems to be ok for my "old school" theme.

And yes, I am a Florida Gators fan and also a fan of the Florida State Seminoles & the West Virginia Mountaineers as well.
