All About Pocket Knives

The tortoise shell is really lovely on this one. It is interesting to see the different qualities of the handle materials used. On some knives they are just finer samples than on others. I have a number handled in tortoise shell that is basically black in appearance. And it is true, this one must have been a "Show and Tell" only

Sometime in the not too distant past, I came across an Ebay auction for an advertisement for a pair of boy's calf-high brown leather boots with a leather pocket and knife on one boot. I think the knife was a four blade scout/utility, but I'm not sure.

I cannot recall the manufacturer.

Might that have been a Buster Brown product?

I'm wondering if your hatchet head was not acid etched.

I've picked up a couple lately. First is an Ulster locked back folding hunter etched "The True Mountaineer "

Next is a Cattaraugus "King of the Woods "lockback swing guard.

Wow ! 2 iconic American Swing Guards, with etch still present, both high demand collectibles for sure.
I live in the mountains; kinda thinking the True Mountaineer oughta be here with me.

Love that Mountaineer!! Here is one marked Montgomery Ward & Co Chicago etched Hunters Favorite, probably made by Ulster or Northfield, not sure.

Nice one Mike.I would have the same guess as to manufacturer.Hard to tell the difference.

Got a few more.First is a Bridge stamped and etched toenail.

Next is a 4"closed half congress. Hibbard Spencer and Bartlett stamped and OVB etched.

And lastly another Hibbard Spencer & Bartlett stamped stockman with a punch.Etched Hughes &Co.Made by New York Knife Co.

Looks like you've been a busy boy Roger. All great knives.

Not a real clean etch on this one, but it is a hard one to find in any condition.
