One thing in the back of my mind is, who made the "match-strike pull blades" - Schrade did not use that pull on their later knives.
Camillus used it from time to time, do you think they could have made the early 8OT blades?

Last time you posted one of your knives, it cost me time and money looking for one - I ended up with a collection of those 72s ... Ken.

Ken, I would apologize but I feel no guilt at all.

The same thing happened to me. I wish I could remember who posted the first 72 I saw and when but 6.3 kilos later that's all history. I never once thought there would be that many variations. Poor naive me.

I think it would be just grand if you posted pictures of your pile of 72s & clones.

I think Schrade made the blades.I have a few different Schrades ( have seen some Ulsters ) with matchstick pulls but they are all 4" stockman. It could be something to do when the changed matchsticks to safety matches.I know in this country we change to safety matches and you had to have a matchbox to strike them.I do not know if or when they changed to safety matches in the USA.

I have a collection of 72.Could you post some picture of your 72 collection.

I got sucked in again. Found a 33 OT on eBay that looks to be very near factory condition. I have a thing for these 3-1/4" - 3-3/8" jacks so I jumped on it. It was marked as shipped pretty fast so let's see just how long it takes to get here.

Sellers picture. I did the best I could with it but I think it's off a scanner and a poor one at that.

Colonel, I'm anticipating it will be like my other knives in that size range. There's something about a jack that size that just pleases my hand. USPS says it will be here Monday.

That jack is nice; what a great knife to carry! I am starting to like the smaller ones more and more. Here is an older one that I got recently that I really like. 3 3/8 inches, wedged springs.

jerry, I bet you will love that 33 OT.
They are a real nice carry. I especially like the little cut out for easy access to the smaller blade.
Same size as a #14 Camillus Jack. They are on the same frame as a 34 OT , I think, yet seem smaller.
I got a few and love em. 33's are always in my edc rotation. Usually with a lockback for work.

Thanks Harold. It would have been here today but it sat around the Oak Creek, WI distribution center and didn't get into Rockford until almost noon today. Way too late for delivery. So tomorrow??

I've decided that when tracking says it left a distribution center, that's when it was scanned and loaded on the truck. It is not relative to when the truck actually physically left the distribution center in any way, shape or fashion.

Jerry, I'm glad you got sucked in. You was the one that started me on those 72s and 863OTs.

This is one of my Schrade "Give-a-ways"; I find them hard to find now-a-days.
Dose anyone know how many different Give-A- Way knives Schrade produced?
I have never seen a collector show many of these knives all together.
This is a question Dale could look at, one day. He has helped me collect some for my collection. Ken

I have been looking for one of these knives for years. It looks like no one likes to part with them.

Too bad you hadn't posted this last year....I had two of these little gems and donated one for an auction for Tank. No box or papers but she still brought $100. In the auction. The other Inam keeping in my gathering.

Ken, that "Give Away" is sweet.

Here is an Old Timer 8OT. It is not super old and has saw cut delrin handles, but it has sentimental value for me because the first knife that I bought for myself as a young boy in the late 1960's was just like this. The pictured knife was bought from one of the AAPK stores a few weeks ago. It has been well cared for and kept intact with all of the original packaging. My original purchase is long gone. I intend to take much better care of this one

RalphAlsip ; that is a nice old (early 1970's) Schrade 8OT.
The 8OT has always been my favourite knife.
My E.D.U. is the same old Schrade 881, I have had since 1973. Ken

Tom, I have all the give away knives I need, but I always keep an eye out for them...
When I started to collect them, I payed about $22 to $35 for them...Ken

The 33 OT showed up in today's mail. I'm not a huge fan of the Old Timer line or even Schrade across the board but there are a few gems in their line up and this is one of them. I may have found a new pattern to concentrate my efforts on. The 3¼" / 3-3/8" jacks just feel right in the hand and make me smile. Anyone know what the pattern number is for the Schrade edition (not an Old Timer)?

This one is in factory condition and I'm very pleased with it.
