Dimitri, that's another nice Robeson strawberry bone locking jack.

I think the etch is interesting. I've worked in OR's for almost forty years and that's exactly how we etched new instruments. The legend was typed onto a dark green medium and that was mounted into a small rectangular frame with padding to make it bulge outward. It was connected to an energy source, the instrument had an electrode attached and when the two touched and the power activated, the legend was electro-etched onto the instrument.

I suspect that's exactly how that Wm. E. Hooper & Sons knife was etched.

Question is, was it done at the Robeson factory or at the Hooper mills?

I have been looking for a usable pre-'70 Case 6380 for a EDC.I wouldn't be abject to any 3 1/2"-4" 3 blade solid EDC as discussed by Miller Bros. and edge. Pm me if you can accommodate.

I said this to preface my idea.I think our stores should have a branch separate and dedicated to these types of knives.I think this would serve members and sellers alike. I know that I would love this option.It takes too long to look through all the collectible knives.One aspect of Ebay I like,although the vintage section is somewhat polluted.

Maybe just a store dedicated to EDCs. Thanks guys.

I would think Robeson did it at the factory.

The Hooper company made textile related items, not to likely they were set up to etch the blade of knives. Another option is they could have bought the knives and brought them to a jeweler to have them etched, but again without the tang being stamped I doubt you could buy these "Sterile" over the counter.
