Nice set woseyjales,

is the center one jigged bone or another material?
PS I'm a bit late in saying, but a moderator might want to move this topic to general knife discussion, I accidentally started it in knife lore and it doesn't really fit there.

Thanks Big Monk,
Case has some newer versions of the Seahorse whittler and the wharncliffe blade on the sway back is a perfect size for smaller duties.
Hard to beat the quality of a Classic though .... GEC comes to mind though.... fine knives.

Here is a little 3 1/8" inch Bulldog Whittler
Picked it up a few years ago. I don't know much about Bulldogs, this one says BULLDOG BRAND/HAND FORGED/SOLINGEN GERMANY on the pile side of the wharncliffe blade. All three blades have the two dog stamp. They are not made in Germany any longer right?

I saw some GEC built Bulldogs on the
CK.net site but I can't speak for ALL the current Bulldogs.

What are your thoughts on this one? Ignore the Imperial.

Looks like an early Robeson 22665 pattern.
The photos are poor, but from what I can see it looks like the nail nick on the wharncliffe blade is very close to the edge of the blade, even extending off the edge. It may have been reshaped. You won`t know for sure till you have it in hand.
Still a nice old knife

I'm not familiar with a 22665, or what would be a 226065 pattern Robeson knife. Can you show an example?
There is an illedgible pattern number on the back of the blade of the subject Ebay knife. I did not ask for it. My Ebay user ID, RCCCollector.nut, sort of raises suspicions when I start asking questions about a knife. Maybe I should change it. I've actually had auctions cancelled after I asked questions.
I know of, at least, two possibilities for the knife, although both are 3 3/8", not the 3 1/2" the seller stated in the auction. I suppose it's possible he did not accurately measure. I'll know in a few days.
Robeson made a 500 pattern Wharnecliff style knife with a clip master. I do not own an example.
They made a 008 pattern, which speaks of early introduction, with a Wharnecliff master.
I have 008's in both two and three blade examples.
I'll illustrate the two 008 patterns below, and some photos of the Ebay knife.
If it's been reshaped, I'll be disappointed.

Neat lookin old old knife Charlie. Looks to me like it may be a tad short, but judging from the pics you posted it appears to be the right blade.
Here's my contribution, an I*XL "SCAPA" knife. S-K thinks it was a whiskey advertising knife. It is not near as heavy as most I*XL knives its' size that I've handled.

old style tang and kick but definitely a late production I*XL

I think I did pretty good on this one.
The knife is 3 3/8" long and the pattern number is 122008, which is the same handle-die shape number as my other two Wharnecliffs above.
I'll need to fish one of them out and compare to see if Willie is right about the blade being a "tad short".
I sure wish they hadn't rubbed it with whatever mild abrasive they used. The knife appears to have had plenty of original polish left before they did that.
I'll do a little light clean-up and post some better photos.

Willie,
I have a knife just like that one. I think S-K is right.
SCAPA is a brand of Scotch Whiskey made on the Orkney Islands.

Sometimes the advertisers on knives are as interesting as the knives.

I found the SCAPA website a couple of weeks ago and sent them an e-mail asking for info.
They haven't responded.
Probably pre-dates the current regime.

Here's one I picked up today stamped,"Hart&Sons Fine Cutlery" on both blades.Smallest one I've ever seen(2"long closed).Blades seem full although sharpened and the downside is the small piece missing from the scale.LG3 lists Hart Cutlery as being made by Camillus but this looks more English to me.Anyone ever heard of the company?

Seems to me that Michael Losicco has mentioned a Hart Cutlery in the past in relation to his collecting of obscure New York State cutlery marques.

I have a Hart Cutlery whittler.
I have not been able to find much info about the company.
LG4 says; C. 1920, some made by Camillus, USA/Germany.
Goins guesstimates the age at 1900-1920.
Those are the only two references I can find to a Heart Cutlery Co. from New York.
Does anyone have more info?

Here is my addition to this thread. Utica Cutlery Whittler from the factory collection. I know some of you don't like or are afraid of celluloid but this is THE BEST celluloid handles I have ever seen or owned. Just look how the back handle is!!!
This is one of favorite knives of the few I own.
Man I love this site and wish I had time to post more.

galvanic1882,
That swell-center congress whittler is a beauty!! I like celluloid myself and some of the prettiest knives I have ever seen had fancy celluloid handles.
