Im new to the brand. So why are Parkers so affordable? Collectors don't know them? I've never handled one. Are they as well made as other Japan knives? They look pretty cool.

Rick, I am not an expert, but will try to give a little insight. They are and are still affordable locally where I am, but online the prices have been going up lately. What attracts me to them is the number of patterns and variety of scales/covers and blade types that can found in all these patterns. And Japan made is my thing. Some, like the fixed blade I posted above are what I consider high end knives. Parker had a "Custom Series" also, which are very nice quality, but of course cost a lot more.

Some folders can be rough feeling on the walk, most I have found are not. I think they are appreciated more now than back in the 80-90s. They make for a nice collection at affordable prices vs. GEC, Case, and many others. Jim Parker also owned Case for a time and Bulldog Brand, and others. There are threads here on the forum where you can get more info.

What I said is very generic I know. Simply put, I collect them because I like 'em. Hope this helps answer a few questions.

....."because I like 'em"....., is always the best reason in my books, and I have the Parker knives to prove it!

Been trying to get this thread up and running again. Lot of different type Parkers out there to see, like yours.

Here are a few. I like every one of the Parkers I have collected over the years. The Gold Lip Pearl is special to me. The last one shown, with Second Cut Stag and Damascus was one of the first knives I collected.

Gary, those are some really NICE Parkers you have! The gold lip pearl IS a Beauty! Have never seen the Stag pair before, but like'em ... what is that pattern called? Thanks for posting ... great looking knives!

Well then you got lucky, Tony, beyond my dislike of multi-blade knives, that knife would really lose it's appeal to me with another blade, but that's just me, I'm sure others would disagree.

I am not sure what the otter is called on those two Stags. They are lockbacks. Those two came as a set, one commemorating the Tennessee Walking Horse and the other the Kentucky Thoroughbred.

I know you don't like multi-blades, My Friend, and nothing wrong with that preference. I should have been clearer.
The second blade for this knife is an interchangeable. I don't know if it was optional or standard when they came out.
I do know that with both blades, the HillBilly costs twice what I gave for this one. It is all good with me just having the drop point.

They are NICE ONES Hardman ... would look good in the "Matching Pairs" thread also.

It's all good, buddy, and a bit odd cuz I have just recently started warming up to models with interchangeable blades, as long as 1 of them is a spear-point which I could simply keep installed all the time, thus overcoming the problem.
