Here are a couple of good examples why hanging things on metal wires and rods hooked over tree branches are not good for the trees. About 15 years ago a woman lived across the street from me that had baskets with plants hanging everywhere. From the front and back decks, from a trellis over the walkway, and these two were hooked over the branches of the then small trees in front of the house. They are embedded so far now that they are in the middle of 4 inch branches.

Begonias bloomed in the middle of winter. Orchids have buds and soon they will bloom.
But the most interesting thing is that my aloe wants to bloom, which, as far as I read, is quite a rare event.
Nice flowers Georgi!

A view off the back of our ridge. It's prettier in the summer when everything is green.
There's a spanish dagger (yucca) seed pod in the foreground. Some young scraggly oaks on the left. The skinny stalks on the right are young ash trees. Some cedar trees behind them ( I don't like cedar trees) And the taller tree on the far right is a Chittumwood tree. We have quite a few of them.
The Chittumwood trees get little black berries in the fall, and the doves love them. They are small, twisted little trees, and they have thorns. The wood is also prized, evidently. I may have to see if I can turn some bowls out of it.
You have a great view Mike.

Thank you, Tom. I told my wife this is the last place I am moving. My next move will be the cemetery or the old folks home! Hopefully many years down the road.

I doubt you have the conditions to grow tomatoes. If there are farmers in the citiy, you can give them to someone. But you can sow the spices in pots.

I was out for a dog walk and found some Daffodils blooming near an old homesite. A little of an old stone foundation was barely visible there in the woods. The structures and their inhabitants long gone, but the flowers live on. There is a poem there somewhere, TPK
Also found several Spring Beauties blooming.

Daffodils here are almost finished blooming now. Their bloom season was stunted by the deep freeze we experienced last month which hit just as many were starting to bloom or had buds. Most were “bit” by the sub-zero temperatures.
Dug some white bearded Iris that are growing at an old long abandoned homesite. The house has been gone for years but the perennial flowers still bloom annually. The Iris had spread into the ditch alongside the road. I’ve been meaning relocate some to our place for years, finally did it.

You were right Ike. I found it.
"Daffodils"
The homesteads are all gone,
Gone all the people,
Gone are the walls,
Gone is the steeple,
Left behind are the rocks,
That laid the foundation,
Gone those who once,
Built a great nation,
Left behind are the daffodils,
God's resurrecting creation,
Gone are the bells,
Left only, a vibration...

Thanks Ike! Appreciate the kind words.
I found one more poem for your picture.
"Daffodils"
Mossy rocks lay in a row,
Telling tails of years ago,
Daffodils are that last,
A silent snapshot,
From the past.

Took this picture this afternoon, Mexican Plum and Redbud growing near the fence row behind our house. Both trees are native to this area. The redbud came up “volunteer” where it’s growing now (likely planted by a bird sitting on the overhead electric wires). I dug the plum from along the creek and transplanted it about 15 years ago to where it is now.
