2 3/4", hard for me to get excited about this. ::facepalm::

I think I have one of these patterns kicking around somewhere already . . .

knifeaholic wrote: Thu Jan 02, 2020 12:28 pm Yes of course I know about the Case classics. Not to put too fine a point on it, but Queen did not make those for Case. Queen made them for Bluegrass Cutlery. The Case Classics (other than the 4 made by Case) never went through the Case factory or Case inventory and were not sold by Case representatives.
This was Jim Parker's idea, was it not? Did he use his influence/former ownership of Case to secure licensing for the name "Case"?
At the risk of topic drift, to answer your question: yes, the “Case Classics” were Jim Parker’s idea. He owned Case cutlery at the time the deal was struck. So didn’t have to use his influence - he owned the company and along with it the Case name.

What, why and how is a complicated story and a lot has been written about it on this forum and elsewhere.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

To me, it's a little bit of a gimmicky pattern, but I may get one. Shrinking down certain patterns doesn't always work. At more than 5" the 6265 is toa little big for EDC (though I do, quite often, carry mine), and often illegal in some places. Yet, 2 3/4" is hard to use, and fiddly. Barlows on the other hand, are to me, the "Quintessential Pocketknife", that Case should never discontinue, seeing as despite the Barlows status in folklore, seeing as how now, only Case and Bear make them in the USA. A smaller, but sturdy pattern that gets the job done--a Kutmaster is my working knife. Plus, small enough to basically be legal just about anywhere. To me, if they want a "Pocket Hunter", it needs to be just smidge smaller than the "Mid Folding Hunter", say 3 5/8" which for many patterns, is just about my sweet spot.

Criticizing a tiny knife for not being a medium size knife is pointless. If you're shopping you pick the approximate size first. The particular model is a secondary consideration. The question is how Case's reintroduced tiny knife compares to other tiny knives. The short blades in tiny stockmans, Barlows and Peanuts are not good for much so I prefer my tiny knives only have long blades. In Cases line the competitors are Tiny Trappers which are even shorter, Tiny Muskrats which have very skinny blades that sharpening will wear away faster, and TrapperNuts, Peanuts with a long spey blade instead of a pen blade. Pocket Hunters are the pick of the litter. If they'd been named Tiny Folding Hunters then I doubt you'd be calling them inferior to your favorite medium size knives.

I like smaller knives so I'm fine with the pocket hunter. Hope that I can pick up one sometime this year. ::tu:: ::super_happy::
Maybe the Jigged Buffalo Horn ::hmm:: or Stag ::hmm:: or Red Stag ::hmm:: Decisions, decisions, decisions...,

@Ken: I've heard they fit well inside airtight mayonnaise jars so please get the Jigged Amber bone. ::handshake:: lol! ::super_happy::

 There’s plenty of room in those jars, and my pockets, for bigger knives. And where I live there’s no laws prohibiting them, so I doubt I’ll be getting one. But I’m happy you like them, so go for it! ::tu::

I could have wished from now until the end of time and the pocket hunter would have never made it to the top of my list. Very disappointing.
