I’m not sure if Jerry posted this knife yet or not, but this is one I did for JerryD about 2013.
Amber CSB handles and Marine Corps Eagle Globe and Anchor for a shield.
Cam TL USMC custom g.jpg

This is the liner lock Ulster version of a 2OT, which I made for Tony (Schradenut) from an Ulster TL-29.
It is posted in another topic but I suppose it belongs here as well.

This TL-29 went to Australia also, to Chris (Tango Alpha).
The blade is modified on the tang so the liner lock will lock the blade open.
The handles on this are desert ironwood.

This is another TL-29 conversion where the liner lock now works on the blade.
The handles of course are stag.

Thank you.
I am adding more knives to the post because it seems to take better than a new post. AAPK is still a bit wobbly on the new server.
The Ulster 2OT and the desert iron wood mod both went to your mates in Australia.

Those are great Glenn! I really love the ebony and the finish you have on it. ::tu::
Is that just wax or did you use some sort of finish? I also love your addition of the shields, the diamond is my favorite. ::nod::

Thanks! Nothing special, just white rouge, then maybe some Ren Wax. I try to add a little flash with a shield when it seems appropriate.

WOW.... I LIKE that knife! I am stuck on the 2OT "look" right now.

SO.... the ULSTER stamp was already on the TL-29 before you started on it?... NICE!!

All the above newly added TL-29 mods are great!!! I am just now seeing several of the latest additions with the server snafu BUT, it was worth the wait !!!
All BEAUTIES!!

No, the TL-29 is a bare head.
I added both bolsters and Tony found someone in Australia who was able to do the deep carving on the rear bolster.

One of the problems with going back and looking through old work that I've done is that some of its is almost embarrassing. I've learned so much that these first two knives look very clunky (if that's a word) to me. They look very unfinished to my eye now. The first is one for a friend of mine in Texas wanted "fat stag" I think it was done in 2007 or 2008.
Cam Barlow back.jpg
Cam Barlow mark side A.jpg

This one was rehandled with Thyua burl. This one was probably done in 2008 and looks very blocky and very unfinished to me now.
Ulster TL-29 Mark Side.jpg
This one is rehandled with camel bone and I used brass for the bolsters. I believe this style bolster is usually referred to as Crown bolsters.

I guess the take away from looking at all these old TL-29 mods is that over time your skills change, hopefully they get better, your physical abilities may improve or decline depending on health issues, etc. and what appeals to your creative side definitely changes with time. Knives that I thought were beautiful when I made them now leave me thinking that thy are incomplete or I could have done them better. The upside of this whole exercise is that I see a few ideas that I played with, which I would like to revisit and redo with newer materials and obviously with an improved understanding of what it takes to make the design work.

If you're not totally sick of TL-29 mods, I probably have a few pictures rolling around somewhere that I have not found yet. I don't think I have been the really outstanding ones just some average type TL-29 mods.

Nope... not sick of 'em... I am enjoying seeing everyone's work.
There is SO MUCH you can do with a TL-29.
You can leave the blade "stock" and do the work on the handles.... you can remove blades and doll up the handles.... you can modify the blades......scroll work... etc.

Y'all keep 'em coming.

This is FUN!!!

Thanks guys!

The top one is stag of course
Number 2 is Red Mallee
Number 3 is interior rams horn. This particular stuff had great color throughout, and not really any "bark" that you see on many.
Number 4 is redwood lace burl, IIRC
5 is craggy stag
