Found a Coleman Cutlery Co. Titusville PA last weekend! The picture really doesn't do it justice, great bone handles.

Any new findings about the company? Maybe someone has an S&M like it to further the connection theory?

As I near my 51st birthday on the 24th of this month, it makes me feel just great to see this thread up again. I have added several to my collection since last year and would like your opinions. As for the Coleman, VERY NICE. I still have little info on them. I did get a picture of thier box they used to ship knives in. It is from Titusville as well. I am also absolutely positive that S&M made Coleman knives. I have found several examples with identical construction and the only difference is the stamp. Neat stuff. That Tidioute MFG is a rare one. Particularly with that handle construction. Is it Bone???? It doesn't look it and that would confirm my finding as to the history and construction. This is only the fourth one I have ever seen. I have one and Mike Losicco has another.

Attached is a photo a Pennsylvania Knife Co and Quaker. These are gorgeous knives that my very best knife friend Mike (Galvanic) somehow got them in my collection. MIKE you the man.

Tidioute MFG CO is a synthetic rough black. Found this about 15 years ago in a Straudsburg
Antique shop.

As I suspected. It appears that most Tidioute MFG's did not have bone or stag handles. I was told by a respectable source that these were a brand of lesser quality in construction (cost wise, craftsmanship) in an effort to capture a market that wanted good knives at a cheaper price. Nothing to fancy in the handles and most didn't have a shield on the handles either. Your knife helps confirm that information. Thank you for posting it.

These were made by the second Tidioute Cutlery Co which wasn't a part of the Brown Bros, Union Razor, Union Cutlery, Kabar legeacy, but actually came into the hands of Mr. Baldwin and eventually Penn Cutlery and Vern Atkins.

Just a wonderfull batch of old knives everyone----Here is a Schatt and Morgan--glitter knife--old stamp

Here is an old Schatt small coke bottle with ebony handles. Queen is reproducing it this year as part of the Schatt series in smooth bone but I don't think they captured the swedge grind on this old fellow.

Heres an older hawkbill from"QUEEN CITY TITUSVILLE PA". I also have some older and newer case knives.

Folks, for those of you that are new to this site or the hobby, you won't find anyone nicer than this bunch of honest, friendly folks that support each others obession with cutlery. This photo is of a rare letterhead from Kane Pa. Albertson Cutlery. THis is the first time I have ever seen one of this.

Here is an oddball that is stamped Tidioute Pa on the rear tang and has a (lighthouse?) on the front. Any ideas guys?

And a lightly stamped Hollingsworth.
