wayne, thank you so much for your kind remarks. You and all of the other folks that use and manage this forum have absolutely made this one of the most fun but humbling weeks in a long time. we are all proud of our collections and they are all special in their own way. I am so excited to be able to share this collection and look forward to sharing individual pictures going forward as long as it is interesting to others. the other amazing offerings on this site makes this so incredibly fun for a long time to come. I also appreciate the opportunity to continue to learn about our favorite hobby. Thanks again, john

John, I missed the opportunity to ask Jim ( if I did I don’t remember) if he had ever seen a cocobolo Remington farmers jack. I’ve asked around and have never gotten a definitive.

I have the only French ivory I’ve seen pictures of. It’s the one Jim had in his books.

I only have two bone Remingtons' with different shields??

sorry Lyle, I meant to say two bone Farmers Jacks. Did Remington make them in Pyremite?

I noticed the different shields in the picture. Bruce Voyles sold a used one that had a federal? shield too. Most are bar shields.

Check out the link above your post. Sargent and C Houston Price have the R3855 listed as imitation ivory. I don't know if it is their version ,Pyremite, I would assume so. Mine ,in the link ,is the actual one shown in Jim's books.

They both list bone as an R3853,imitation ivory(French ivory) as an R3855, and cocobolo as an R3858.

I really like any old knife in French ivory. I noticed your farmer jack in French ivory a long time ago. Great knife. Back in the 90’s when NKCA was in full force with shows all the time, I had a nice Office Knife Collection. 150 all different. Wish I had kept that group but you can’t afford to own them all.....

Ray, do you still have that lock punch with the in scale lock? Really a nice very rare piece. Thanks, John

NO! Not your mistake, John. It was just a brain poot in an old guy. It never dawned on me what you were referring to, DUH!
But no, I sent that one on ahead to Keith. You know what, that is still the only one I ever saw. Got it from Joe Seale many years ago. Showed it to Jim Pitblado once and he drooled and commented that if it was nearer mint he would be on it like a duck on a June Bug. I got a similar reaction from Jim Sargent.

It’s funny the guys you mentioned have all been big helps in building my collection. We have lost 2 in one year..... I have owned and looked at a lot of Remingtons over the years and that is the only punch lock stock I have ever seen. It is a gem.

I hope you don't mind if I post the knife in your thread John. It's used but like you said, hard to find. Thanks again Ray.

Yes it is. I got that from Jim Sargent last year.

If you get a chance John, post your 53s on the farmers jack thread. I'd like to see both side opened .
