Here's an old Catt.#22369. I've always called it a "Moose". It's mounted in the case so I can't show the blades. They're full and in excellent condition. The knife is 4". J.O'.

Here is a Case moose, 4 5/16".
Serpentine; no swell center.

Is there a blade type requirement for classification as a moose? Or is it it size and specifications, such as single spring and 4 inches closed?

Most here seem to have a clip blade and something else, but I'm pretty sure I've seen a double spear.

I've always considered a "Moose" to have a large clip and a large spear. I guess there are variations. J.O'.

That what I thought. Thought a Texas Jack was like the knife Jerry showed. Thought Texas jacks and Stockmans have square bolsters. Anyhow here's a Queen Moose.

According to Levine’s Guide 3rd edition, page 160, MOOSE and TEXAS JACK are interchangeable names, are big jacks (at least 3-7/8ths long), the master blade is always a clip, and the secondary (always on the opposite end) is a long wide spey or spear.

Handle dies (shapes) vary somewhat but serpentine seems to predominate.

I have a few Mooses and they are among my favorites. Pull one out of your pocket in the dark or with your gaze directed elsewhere, and automatically either end will provide you with a large and conveniently oriented blade to pull out.

I was very happy to find this knife.

First one I have seen with Texas stamped or etched on the blade!

Handles are Horn, handful of a knife!
