That is PREMIUM and yes I think they are very cool too but have bought many for less than half of the Premium you state.

Please post some pics of those "many for less than half of the Premium"knives you are referring to. With all due respect, I don't need to sell nor do I want to. Just making a statement on how much these knives are worth and the fact that I find it interesting on the value. Really don't care if someone picked one up for below 50% of list which is what you are alluding to. Good for them. Would not do that with any of my knives.

And my thoughts on the List (book) price is that those who publish the books set a price where they can buy them at a decent price. If you look at Parker's guide from the late 90's to the early 2000's he has knives listed for more in those books than his current, A knife is only worth what someone is willing to pay. I have these USA jacks that I gave $125 for the pair but lists in the book for more and a XX Jack that I gave $35 for.(not new but still worth more than $35 IMHO)

Red bone XX Jack for $65

So to me a knife isn't worth what the books put on them. Just my opinion.

I bought three of these 1976 slick black '35's still in pumpkin box and original paper for $97 off ebay. This is the only one I have left I gave the other to away to fellow collectors. Perry (singin46) saw the 3 together at one point.

Very nice knives at a good price. As far as book value in relation to authors buying knives, a moot point if you are not selling to dealers. The "BirdsEye" you posted appears to be a 1977 3 dot. Listed in at least 2 books for $75 MINT. You got a fair price in my opinion. As far as "A knife only being worth what someone will pay for it", I agree. But, if the seller does not have to sell due to hardship or whatever, they can list a knife for over "list" if they want. If no one buys, then no one buys. I think if you browse thru the CASE knives available on our AAPK stores, you will find that most knives are listed at or slightly below book value. Ebay is a whole different story. Not a member nor do I plan to be. Not my style.

Anyway, I would like to think we agree to disagree, my friend. I prefer not to hijack this thread any further from the subject at hand. Stockmans. I will say, I value your point of view though. It is possible I am looking at this all wrong. Maybe not though. Maybe we can open another thread on this subject. Be interested to know additional points of views.

Thanks! Very sweet knives indeed you posted in my book. I like the darker stag on the HP. As for the 53047, "fat" is an understatement. I bet that sucker fills your hand and there is no problem hanging on to it. I have to figure out a EDC with a handle on it like that I can carry, CASE of course. Knife would not be shifting around in your hand with a handle like that during use and a beauty too!

Just bought a Case 6318 off of e-bay a couple of hours ago (downloaded the sellers pictures). I have been looking for a nice Case from 1977 in one of any of several different patterns and found this one by browsing/searching around. Paid the guy after the auction closed, hoping to see it in about a week.

Thanks Jerry, can't wait to get my hands on it - that fat stag you are showing is pretty sweet itself. I have been needing some kind of theme for my knife collecting; with Case you can date to the year, so significant years are going to get knives to mark those occasions. Lots of possibilities; birth of children, degrees, military promotions, commands, anniversaries, etc. I can see having one Case knife for each year from 1970 through 2012!

Here are some 70's 5347. From top to bottom are: 78 red scroll, 77 blue scroll, 76 razor edge, 71 ssp collectors set, and the last one is 1970 ten dot hp.

My black (very deep red?) 6318 HP SS P came today via the mail; the liners are nickel plated to match the pins and it is perfect in every way - the contrast between the nickel and the black bone is stunning. It has a tiny amount of dark greenish color on one edge adjacent the bolster (only visible in bright sunlight) with that exception it is jet black bone all over. I am quite pleased with this e-bay purchase (you never know!)

Keep all those stag handles coming - that will be my next pickup in a Case Stockman - gorgeous gents!
