I had a little free time and decided to spend it at the range.

When my father-in-law was alive we were in the woods in the Fall, in the field in the Winter and on the river and creek banks in the summer. When he passed I lost interest. Don't even own a sporting arm any more.

wowCaleb nice shooting What ya shooting and how many yards???I do 50yrds four nites a week and I hold a .75 group with Winchester 555's.

Thats about 30 yards with a CZ 452.
We have a little range here on the farm, enough to site the rifles in and get by for the season. I used to be a member of a gun club and we had access to the range.
I used to shoot out to 50 and the groups stayed tight. A good 22. cal rifle and some half decent optics makes for a fun and cheap day at the range.

I like to hunt squirrels with a 22. so headshots or nothing for me. Ammo is still relatively cheap for the 22. so I like to spend some time learning the rifle. I have a Sako P72 that was my Dad's and it's an excellent shooting rifle. I will try to get to the range and I'll shoot you guys a target.

Caleb do yo have a picture of the Sako??there REAL GOOD shooters.

It's a really sweet piece and it's a bast to shoot. We spent one summer popping the heads off the dandelions in our yard.

Sweet Caleb love that stock and the trigger on those Sako's are the best Here is my first .22 was past down to me a Stevens Visable loader pump over 100 yrs old and still shoots.You can see by the breach why it's called a Visable loader.

dogg - One time I heard that called a "miserable loader". I asked the guy why and he said it was because they tended to malfunction. Have you had that experience with yours?

Jerry; I've heard that term,with Remington loads it is true with Federal loads I have no problem ::shrug::I believe the rim on Federal is thicker.. You have to keep the extractor clean and oiled.

Yeah, Remington rounds aren't my favorite.
I think Federal does a great job with the 22. cal rounds that they produce.

If I am going to shoot a 22. cal revolver, I never use Remington rounds.

Dogg56, I will agree with you about Sako's trigger.
We have a few sitting in the safe and they are a joy to shoot and handle, great guns.

I shot a little tighter with the CZ, but I'm happy with the old Sako.

I shoot nothing but Super X in my Mk. 1 Ruger. I've heard that Remington's aren't the best 22 ammo to use! ftd

Sept. 9/12 AL and I won the league Championship with this target@50yards The league is factory stock and no competition loads.The best I can do with conpetition loads is .50 groups @50yds with my Marlin 60 and the same with Al's 10-22...NOW with my Marlin 25 and match ammo with my aftermarket trigger I can get under .25"@50yds Like ya said I love shooting rimfires ::nod::Furges I love them MKI. I shoot a MKll open-sights..Remingtons OK for wheel guns but NEVER in semi's.

you can say that again, they run decent in my autos but never in my wheel guns

We went through a Henry Rifle stage.
Man, we burnt ammo like it was nothing, Remington ammo functioned fine, it just doesn't compare to Federals IMO.

I had one of those negetive experiences with Remington-Peters shells. 16 ga., No. 6 shot, high brass. Was squirrel hunting with my trusty old 16 ga. side-by-side and spotted a squirrel flat against a tree trunk, about 20 yards, maybe a little more. Brought the gun up to my shoulder and pulled the back trigger, loud report...missed? Second barrel same thing, squirrel still on the tree. Broke her down and dumped two more, fired both barrels one at a time missed? both times again, squirrel's gone now. Now this is a gun that would win at turkey shoots, but this day I never even jumped any bark off the tree. Found the wads at the base of the tree. Was any shot loaded in these babies????? Shells had a lot of talk but no walk. Swithched to Federals and never had that problem again.

Wow TJ thats unreal Every gun has it's quirks Another thing about Renington loads in a .22 they are dirty.Now in my Savage 99 the Remington .300 savage is all I use yet my Remington 7400 semi won't use Rem loads FTF I use Federal with no problem.

No quirk in the gun, the shells????
