Pictures in those days were much more posed and not nearly as spontaneous as today.

Thanks everyone. That knife was not the boy’s knife I have now. God only what happened to Uncle Grant’s knife. I think he was whittling on a corncob. In those days traveling photographers came along and took pictures. Uncle grant must have given himself a haircut with that knife – it looks pretty rough.

That is per-zackly how it works Charlie!

I have one of these but with no lock back function. Both blades are stamped with the Schatt & Morgan tang stamp. The master blade has a half stop but the wire stripper does not. Is you configured the same way?

The example I have is the same David. Both blades have a 3 line tang stamp, main blade has a half stop & the stripper has a regular cam tang but with a lock.

On a side note... this TL-29 may have been to war, or at least went to sea. On the back side of the springs it is electrolyte-engraved,

David, there is a small rocker lock down inside those knives, which can wear down or break if forced. Look between the blades and see if there is something different in there.

Charlie thanks for the tip. I had never noticed them before. It appears that both blades should lock, is that correct? I open these blades the usual way with the nail nicks and push them closed with the normal strong snap. The locking feature must not be working on my knife or I am not trained sufficiently.
Lest we get off on a “side trip” away from the thread, I am posting a photo of three maize Schatts I have acquired over the last few years.

Here's my only vintage Schatt& Morgan. WWI era English Army pattern. I posted it a couple other places on the forum but it belongs here too.

Well if you are going to "only have 1" I'd say you picked a pretty darn nice 1 to have there Iron Hoarder!
I've been looking for a good example of that Schatt pattern for a couple of years now. Beautiful!!

Here is a very unusual knife I was given several ago. I have never seen another one. It appears to be a knife made for a specific industry or customer…almost like a maize knife with a fixed blade. Overall length is 7 1/2”.

Any ideas or thoughts?

Maybe a Sugar Cane Knife?
