All About Pocket Knives

Mqqn that bullet end in the middle with the screwdriver blade is awesome.

Here are some "daylight" pics of our "KRACK-A-JACK" bullet end jack , but they still look poor compared to mqqn's pic .

Good morning all. Hope you had a good Holiday. New here, just joined up on my quest for a traditional knife. I had it narrowed down to a bullet end jack in horn until I saw that red stag but I have looked everywhere and cannot find one. Perhaps someone could give me some info on the availability of the knife.

I am still interested in the horn but had a question to durability. Is the horn pretty sturdy? Would hate to drop the knife and end up with a cracked jack. I seem to have heard that horn shrinks over time.

I would appreciate any info I could get on this beautiful knife.

Thanks for the welcome. I am really liking that horn with silver. Has such a nice clean classic look to it. Just want to know that the horn is durable before I pull the trigger.

Welcome. I like your signature line.
It may be a challenge to find a red stag, they get snapped up pretty quick. You could probly find a burnt stag though. As far as the horn, It may shrink a tiny bit but it shouldnt be a problem. I think its as durable as any natural material. The Horn ones that I have carried, end up getting dull pretty quick, but seem durable. I dont know how you feel about wood, but the Cocobolo is a sweet little knife, and its Northfield trim instead of a Tidoute (like the horn).

I was able to spend the day yesterday with my three grandchildren and my kids - it was very relaxing and I did not over-eat!

Liveitloud - what I would do is watch oldhundredcolletibles and see what Bob puts up there - he posts the knives the day he gets them, and he is very close to Great Eastern.

Thanks Ramrod I agree. I have been looking at this brand for the better part of a week trying to decide what to get. The handles were really important to me. Funny how we (I) get hung on aesthetics. I was pretty close to grabbing the 54 Stockman below. They called it brimstone bone which I had never heard of. It sure is pretty though. But, I just kept coming back to the bullet end jack.

I also really like the blade configuration on the Furtaker and (don't laugh) like the eggs and hot sauce handle. Might have to get one of those at some point. Really like the horn as well.

Unfortunately the dealers picture isn't the best so it's hard to tell,,,,but you'd recognize the handle material as Carved Stag Amber Bone....this handle material was at a time when GEC was still buying finished product as opposed to doing it all in house...and it was all coming from the same source ...Culpepper & Co.

Live and learn I guess. I sure do like those handles though!!!!

Did you actually see it before you bought it.

Look, I hate to see good money spent on a knife made worthless by such ugly scales, but I have a solution.
If you send your knife to my company (iEDC), I will take care of that knife, we'll take the scales and give them a smoother look and feel. It's almost like Case pocket worn, but we will also patina the blade.
So please, contact me and we'll get this sorted out before the other members see this knife.
