I don't think this company actually produced knives, but they were located in Bridgeport, CT and it is another form of button-holer.

I see these every once in a while on Ebay. As a matter of fact, this one is there right now. The sellers almost never know what they are. They list them under Knives & Blades when they would probably do much better listing them under Sewing Notions or whatever category Ebay has for such.

I think the patent date is sometime in 1872. It's a novel device. Slide the blade to the desired spot and then punch it through the cloth. It will stop cutting when the cloth clears the blade edge and hits the brass gradations.

It was never meant, however, to be used with the blade fully extended like that.

Sorry for the lousy pictures;still having problems with my camera.This little gem is a wrist compass by Marbles.A good friend of mine gave it to me.He had it when he was a kid and got it from his granddad.

I checked the back and there are no markings.There is quite a bit of verdigris(that lovely green stuff that occurs when leather comes in contact with brass for an extended period)that is keeping the leather band from moving and I am loathe to try and move it as the leather is very fragile.

thanks...i was hoping the leather was a bit more pliable...it is a beautiful compass...

The leather is light in color it has not aged like the one Ray has shown.

Last I remember it was a little dry from age but not brittle, I even tried it on my wrist for fit

Hard to find the empty box let alone the original wrist compass still in the box

I have a couple pin on vest compasses still in the original box too

Great stuff here, guys. Those Marble's compasses are seriously neat, and I'm sure you know worth some bucks. The wrist compass is something you don't see a lot of.

I wear a Marble's pin on compass on my vest when I bird hunt, but it's only six-seven years old or so and I'm not even sure it was made in Gladstone.

Tru-Nord is still making compasses the old fashioned way in Minnesota.

Here is a little gem I picked up today.I had seen it awhile back but passed on it then.What struck me about it this time was the date on it:November 8th 1911! It just turned one hundred years old!

The invoice is for rim knob locks(whatever they are) and the art work on the invoice is superb.Price wasn't bad either:$7.50.

The old door locks that are rectangular and set into the edge of the door frame and use a skeleton key to open.

Here's a couple of pieces I've had for awhile:
First is a Schrade Cutlery key chain tag made of plated copper and enamelled.
Next two are tie tacks from various makers.The card they are mounted on is 2"square to give you an idea of their size.The Parker knives I bought years ago and the others I've acquired thru e Bay very inexpensively.

Great looking cans Dimitri;especially the Remington.
Here are several tie clips and pins I've acquired over the years.
The tie clips are mostly by Hickok and they are adjustable in width.
The 4 pins pictured;3 come out of the sheaths.The end ones(the jambiya with the red stones and the keris)are made of silver.Not sure what content as the jambiya has an Arabic hallmark.The jambiya with the shield is one piece but very detailed.
The other pin(gold with reddish stones)looks to be gold plated and two of the stones look like pieces of Baltic amber but do not have anything inside.
