Glenn, any compliments are well deserved by the work you do! I also have a couple here that I am itching to get my hands on - I have one or two ideas for them too.... But, I have to tell you, the other day I had to rewire a couple of three point plugs and I grabbed one of them on the spur of the moment - and I might very well keep at least one of them "standard" - maybe clean it up a little and give it some nice scales, but I can see why so many of them were made - it is a very nice wireman's knife!

There are still a lot of them out there, but as popularity catches on, they get more expensive, especially the clean ones...

I posted this one on q&a last week the boker ones seem a little harder to find.

Alot of companies made the TL-29. Boker, Queen are 2 that are less common. The wood-handled ones are nice. That Boker of your has a nice full belly on the blade. Very nice!

Thanks I picked it up for 20 bucks while I was in ohio for memorial day its been my edc ever since I like it alot.

I really hope gary gets back to me I really like that elk antler on the first page he sounded like he would part with it just hope he doesnt want alot it really caught my eye

Glenn, I have also noticed they are getting a little more pricey, but if you keep an eye open you still pick up some good deals..

thanks guys I have REALLY becoming unsure on my decision to carry it. I have searched the internet high and low and yes TL-29's are VERY COMMON but the boker version 9229 with 4 rivets in the wooden handle WELL good luck with that one I've been shown 2 so far one has been modified and the other is on ebay in pretty rough shape even all the modifieds on this post only ONE has a boker blade in it and I see none that were geniuine bokers not like mine anyway kinda got me thinkin I posted on Q&A about it and got tons of responses of examples but up to now Ive seen I think 3 or 4 like mine and only two of those are still factory mine and the one on ebay and if I can get it cheap am gonna try.. Watch now you guys will show me a hundred and I feel silly but I just havent and I've been lookin.

Unfortunately for me, I don't get to keep it. From the start, this was a knife given to me by my cousin and part of the project was to surprise him with the finished unit. I love surprises and this is going to be a big one for him because as far as he knows he gave me this old Klein electricians knife and that was the end of it. You know, done, done and done. They have business in Chicago this Thursday and if his wife feels up to it, they will come back this way to visit with me and their son who lives in the area. I can hardly wait to give hin the knife and the cane I made for him.

It's the screwdriver with a new profile. The lock and the bail went bye-bye. I thought Glenn was going to just cut the lock part off the center liner but he made a whole new center liner. I'm just thrilled with it.

There was a time when I read every post in AAPK every day.
AAPK has grown a lot since then.
I will have to post some of my conversions when I get some time.

That knife is up in the top five of all the TL-29 conversions that I have seen!

beautiful work...

i had one i did up...but nature took its course...the scale split when i took it out in the heat...
dang thing looked good...all it needed was a final polish...bake at 15 minutes, 85%humidity, 107 degrees...leave it in the car to go in the store..come back...show it off to a friend..and the split just kept growing...

before and after pics...never overheated a knife in the car before.

Bummer dude. All that work and now ya gotta do it over.

That sucks about your knife. Reminds me of a rebuild I did on an old SCC Barlow. Everything was going smooth, until I peened a little too much, then I got this result...



I was able to use some other scales I had and finish the project, but I wanted those smooth bone scales so bad on that knife.

When I start to get too big for my britches, I pull out that pic and look at it.

I never heard of that kind of issue with the car. Not on a knife, anyway.

Don't give up though. Just chalk it up to experience. (if that's the case, I have a ton of experience )
