All About Pocket Knives

Check out my new Bulldog ram's horn 73L! Love the interior horn and bomb shield on this knife. This baby's going directly into my carry rotation, which is almost completely GEC knives now. Oops, I shoulda rotated those...

These are my current EDC GEC's; you can see I lean toward the 73 pattern.I forgot to put my wenge wood Furtaker Trapper to the mix as it was in my coveralls. It's a real workhorse and one of my primary "go to" knives. I love the big wharncliffe blade. Try it, you'll like it!!!

I kinda lean to the 73 and 72 pattern's for carrying...I just added the red bone 72...the mammoth ivory 73 is my Sunday knife.

It is a switchblade made by GEC for Taylor Brands on a 73 frame, the lever is the release. Very well made (of course) and neat
as heck. Blade is a tad thinner and more pointy than a regular 73, it has a leaf spring and opens by pushing the lever forward.
It has a really tight lockup and is just a cool knife...

Here's #23 that I carry alot, I just finished soaking the blade in some apple cider vinegar for about 4 hours I'm really happy with the results.

That's some drop dead beautiful bone Barry! You have to feel good carrying a knife like that around.

You're right, Mike. I really enjoy carrying and using GEC's products. Like Gino sez; life's too short to carry a cheap (or ugly) knife!

I really lucked up on that particular knife, as it was advertised as a store model or a second, but when I got it in hand I realized that it is a regular production knife with no "S" or other marks on the tang, so I got a great knife at a seriously low price! At first I thought it was pretty ugly, but it has grown on me. Anyway, the previous owner had opened and closed it many times and you could see the wear on the tang, although slight, so I may as well use her since she is not mint for that reason only.

That's what I like about the GEC primitive bone, it varies so much. The color is deep and rich on that one. I've picked out a few of mine to carry too, why not carry a great knife?

The white one has been my main carry since late February.
The red one is a second due to the coloring of the bone but perfect otherwise and a nice knife at a good price.

I plan on adding a #72 with Elk scales to the rotation too.

Got a buddy,furniture builder that carries a 23 PB. The bone has darkened some from the dye stains he uses everyday,that and the "pocket worn" smoothness that comes from use and taking it in and out of leather slip case......it looks sweet. I'll see if I can swipe it for a day and get a couple pics,its a stunner

This baby is gettin some pocket time these days … snagged it during one of Greg's recent "look what I found" stag runs … really unique second-cut stag in 440 … (sorry for the "on the fly" pics - it's all I seem to have time for these days … ) … the scales have a sort of 'open grain' rough feel to 'em .. I like it, but I did slap a couple coats of Ren-Wax on 'em ...

Edge, I can't wait to see the after EDC pics, that knife is awesome now, but once it's been in your pocket for a couple weeks, look out.

I'm really gonna try to EDC this one for a while, I think with a good patina this one will become a favorite.

Caleb, that is my favorite work knife; used and abused and keeps a comin'. I use it in place of a utility knife a lot, unless I'm cuttin' sompin really nasty. Touch up the edge once a week. It's startin' to look a little rougher than this older photo depicts.

Barry, I got this knife out, I put a fresh edge on it, then I put it in my pocket and got on AAPK to look at the pics of yours. I love how yours has a nice used look, a trusted friend look, thats what I'm trying to accomplish here. I like a nice patina so I'm excited to get a real one going. I'll be cuttin' everything with this knife for a while, it feels like a good worker. When I get that good ol' patina, I'll get some new pics up.
