All About Pocket Knives

Here's my Benchmade Mel Pardue Limited Edition (147/250) Presidio Automatic. Given to me on my retirement by a retired Navy Commander.

Wow! Thats nice Bill! I really like the 1/2 serated blades now. ::envy::

One of my other 'tactical' knives is an Emerson Commander, which also has half serrated edge. I think the Benchmade was the nicest of my retirement gifts.

Dale, I agree the Axis locking system is awesome! Wish more companies used it!

Is there a difference between the axis lock that Benchmade uses and the arc lock that SOG uses on some of their knives ? They look very similar to me but I don't own any Benchmades to be able to compare the two.

Phil, I am not sure, I only own the Benchmade with it but I have never seen anything like it. Its awesome! I think BM has it trade marked.

well, I bought that "tailout" folder from Benchmade and after 7 weeks of waiting for it they finally told me they were not going get them after all. I am glad because I found out they were imported, so I went ahead and bought a mini griptilian 1/2 serated instead. I will post some pics when it gets here. I always wanted one and know its one of benchmades most popular knives so I will let you all know what I think of it once I get it

I think I heard that Benchmade is putting the Lone Wolf name on imported knives.
That's a shame but I guess Lone Wolf wasn't making a profit on their own so they
sold out to Benchmade.

Trey, Lonewolf does do work for Benchmade and did contract at least one import from China through them. I was bummed because it was misleading how they showed the knife on the website. It had Benchmade logo with USA made knives under it but NO mention that the knife was an Import! I had to call Benchmade to find out.

Actually, Benchmade bought Lone Wolf knives, IIRC.

I understand that Benchmade now owns the Lone Wolf brand including the Paul series. I have one Paul knife from when Gerber was making them. I really like it and carry it occasionally. I like the Executive with the CF scales; maybe I'll try to get one of those while I can. I've had the mini AFCK for about 7 years now and have carried it quite a bit. It is just a bit larger than the Schrade 194OT in the picture with it. I had that knife a lot of years now and I had given it to my secretary in the late 90's and she left it behind when she left the company, but her replacement knew I had given it to her and returned it to me in late 2007. One of Schrades best IMO.

My son got my Bone Collector bloody this fall, so it has been through a proper initiation now.

it was the first Benchmade that i HAD TO HAVE
its no lightweight in the pocket ive thought about getting a sheath for it ??

I got my Mini Griptilian in the mail and honestly I am not impressed. The Sequel is the one knife that I see compared to the mini grip a lot and in my opinion the Sequel blows it out of the water. Not even close!

Tray, I had heard a lot of positive things about it and thats why I bought it. I bought it direct from Benchmade and didnt have a chance to hold it be fore I got it. It didnt impress me. I think its an okay little knife but thats about it. If I would have held it first I wouldnt have bought it. I would have got another GEC instead for sure!

I finally figured out how to program my camera correctly so now I can start posting pictures . Here are two of my four Benchmades, my camera battery died so I could only get the two. The first one is my newly acquired Shoki 480 with S30V blade, Wine Wood handle and G10 bolsters. The second is one that I've had for a few years and it's a 690 with 154CM blade, Rosewood hanlde and Carbon Fiber Bolster. I also have a Mini Griptilian and a 707 both with 154CM blades. I usually use my BM's for EDC because you just can't beat the quality and construction and the Shoki is going to be my favorite!
