Wow, it sure does! I've never seen that set before, very nice.

One that my brother gave me.

I'm not really a collector, but here's an old Plumb Cruiser axe I found and revitalized.

Makes a perfect companion to my little Estwing Hatchet at camp.

I even made a cover for it to keep it from "chopping" the rest of my gear on the way to camp.

Had a hard time finding the correct 28" handle for it, but it was well worth the effort IMO.
I'd much rather have this old American made beauty than a whole pick up load of fancy, high dollar Sweedish stuff for what I do.

Real nice axe and nice pictures Charlie! If you made the leather cover you did a great job of it. I have an Estwing hatchet just like yours.

I did indeed make the cover but it wasn't my design.
A nice guy over on blade forums came up with it and shared it with me.
Love those little Estwings, they're indestructable.
I bought that one as a companion to one of my old favorites.


Retired the knife years ago, but the hatchet still lives in the camp box and always will.

The Estwing hunting knives are rare IMO, I just don`t see very many. I am lucky to have just one.

Yea,,, I've yet to see another one.
Mine was given to me by my best friends father back in the 60's so it's got allot of sentimental value.
Looked about like it does now when he gave it to me, so it's gotta be pretty old.

I've got a little Eastwing hatchet. I paid $3 for it at a yard sale. Unused with leather cover. It still has the poly finish on it that they dip them in.
That ax head cover is the bees knees. Very smart.

That particular style Craftsman logo was used on tools from 1934 until about 1948.I bought a complete set of Craftsman sockets and ratchets in the original tool box awhile back with that exact style logo.After some research I came up with those dates.As an aside;virtually all Craftsman tools were made by New Britain Tool Co.

Here's a Dunlap that has been past down in our family.

I picked up this shingle hatchet recently, marked Norvell Sharpleigh Hardware Co, Diamond Edge. I think it's their #2 size from the handle mark. Around 13" long and pretty good condition.

There are some great classic hatchets on this thread, here's a modern day hatchet. I split a stack of kindling using an axe, then thought a hatchet would be a better tool. So I bought this Bear 400 as my new American made blade of the month. It's small but stout with a one piece head/handle. I'm looking forward to more splitting chores this weekend.

Is that made by the Bear & Son knife company out of Jacksonville, AL? Looks like a great user, sweet handle.

Yes, Redrider, it's from our friends in Jacksonville. I just bought it new but the stamp is Bear MGC with six stars which, if I remember correctly, means 2004 production. I can't find it in the 2012 catalog so it may be out of production - I hope not as it's a good tool.

Always thought the details of the feathers were neat in this half/hatchet
