Here's one I picked up today at a yard sale.Got a couple other knives I'll post in another forum.
This one is a bit unusual in that it is a Japanese set but seems to be of much better quality than most I've seen.It is also unusual in that instead of a knife handle, the blades are affixed into the end of the adjustable wrench. The pouch is made of leather and of good quality. When I first saw it I thought the handle was missing until I looked at it more closely. There may possibly one tool missing(probably an awl or a straight screwdriver)as it appears there is an empty loop. Also unusual is the scissors;first one I've seen with them in a tool kit.The pliers are stamped ELD and also appear to be of good quality.Best part;the price:$3.

This is most likely the finest Napanoch Tool Kit set any of us will ever see.

It sold this past week on Ebay.

As indicated on the blades, Napanoch patented this system January 29th, 1907.

I wonder how long they made them.

Left click two times to enlarge the photos.

Not My Set, Not My Auction, I Didn't Buy It.

Four Hundred Eleven dollars, Phil. I kind of think that's a reasonably low price for that.

Here is a tool kit what was Johnnie Fain’s.
Anyone know anything about it?

The knife blade in the handle is stamped WESTERN/GERMANY.
The tools are stamped GERMANY.

The tang stamp on doesn’t look like any Western Knife Co stamp I have seen.
I am wondering if it is Post-WWII and made in what we called West Germany?
I have a small collection of German steins. IIRC, some are stamped made in Western Germany.

Anyone have ideas or opinions on this puppy?

Wow
You guys are posting some nice kits, several I have seen before in different places, several I have not. I would say the Germany kit in the zippered case is likely post WWII, most snap-cased (if not all) kits were prior to/into WWII. I am currently researching the German made kits and will need to post a few photos... The lock systems, handles and combination of the different tools are really quite fascinating. The trick is to be sure your getting a complete and original set. Always on the lookout for some different and nice ones myself!

Napanoch was a maker of US made kits in the early 1900's (as noted previously), and made kits for U.J. Ulery. Ulery was definately one of the biggest advertisers of these kits back in the day. Check out Google Books, search "Ulery Tool Kit" and you'll find some great old ads.

If you happen to have a German made kit marked AK&B "The Kit" please let me know! On the lookout for one! Thanks!

Here's a couple quick shots of a few kits. Currently researching history on all of them. Need about a 40 hour day to get to it all, but working on it! I just love the variety of tools, handles, locking mechanism and sizes of these kits. Enjoy!

Joseph Rodgers mid to late 1930's. If the writing is true it was the property of one of the generals that was instrumental in the formation of what would eventually become the English SAS.

That is a great set MB. I didn't know some of them came with two handles. Enjoyable thread. I used to bid on these tool sets three or four years ago but never was able to win any.
