All About Pocket Knives

Here's my vintage Northfiled Joe, the one with golden bone scales in the back. It's rough, missing a blade and the shield, but you can still see what a nice knife it was in it's day. I bought both of these off of eBay for $20 as parts knives.

Man I sure like that bottom knife. Love the blade shape.

Isn't that a nice knife, even all beat up? Here's a much nicer copy of the same Empire knife that upnorth posted on a thread.

I think I have one or two Quill knives, and maybe an old relic or two by Northfield.

No, but maybe someday I'll give it a shot. I just couldn't pass up those two classic knives at that price.

thanks Joe , came from a collector in CT. the same person who sold me the Waterville knife he also sold me a Empire scout. was happy today three knives came in the same box

Well, I came across another Northfield.
I knew it had problems, or "a" problem going in, but it didn't keep me from being the winning bid on the bay. It looked so good, and I knew if I won the thing it was going to be a packin' knife. And what a knife! A beautiful sleeveboard with the secondary blade snapped cleanly off. I mean if it's going to be snapped off it's better snapped cleanly, eh.
Check out these covers. Great shield. Great stamp. Tiny wobble in the main. Fairly full blade. No half stop. 3 5/16".
The secondary was a thin blade with a catch bit. I have to get the stub out and file it to remove the sharp edge.
And one more thing and I'll stop gloating. I only paid $10.50 + $5.00 shipping. I couldn't get to paypal fast enough.

Your Northfeild looks to have similar scalesfound on Schrade Cut Co.? I've never heard of them before. What caught my eye was the pick bone scales. It looks to have the same style pattern that was used on the earliest Schrade Cut Co. knives. I'm trying to find a set of scales for a very earl 3 3/4" full bolster Schrade Cut Co. double switchblade I have and have realy been watching for this style of pattern so your knife caught my eye. Nice one ! The one I have has a spear blade that has the "Full Swedge" master blade where the top swedge grind goes completely to the tang. The small blade on it is a "Punch" blade and this combination makes this knife extremely rare . Someone rescaled it many years back with incorrect scales. The Spear blade is full and has no pits and very little Patina so I hope to one day find some parts knife with scales that will work.The pictures I included are from two different 3 3/4" Schrade cut Co knives. Both appear to be the very early examples.I believe this style of picked bone may have been Schrade Cut Co's earliest pattern that they first used .Congratulations on your "Northfeild" !

I would like to see full pictures of your knife with the punch. I also have one, the master spear is narrow from years of use. I still like it and also think they are rare.
