Mickey that 72 looks like it's in very good condition. Be careful, the Camillus 72 pattern and it's clones are very addictive.

I saw that auction and considered correcting the seller but decided to keep my own council. I'm sorry to say the handles on your knife are not bone, they're Delrin. Camillus quit using bone for the handles on the 72s sometime in the 1950s and your knife was probably made in the 1970s or 1980s. They did make a couple of Special Factory Orders in the 1990s that had bone handles but it was black bone.

the post office trips and all the emailing back and forth is a pain, ebay wants you to make a deal with the seller, I have asked for partial refunds but no luck yet with that
although the sellers say they want to avoid a negative feedback, they really are not resonable so I give them one, although ebay makes you wait weeks before you can give a negative
anyway, you think the 26 I paid is worth the effort to return it or that is still a good knife for my first 72 with a learning experience and a good story

I think the $26 you paid for that 72 is just about right. You didn't steal it but neither did you pay too much. If it were me, I would keep it. It looks like it's in great condition.

I've learned to make my own decisions about knife handles and not take the sellers word for it. If I'm unsure, sometimes I'll question the seller before I buy. If I buy without questioning, I keep in mind it may not be bone so I'm not so disappointed when it arrives. There is some really good Delrin out there that is extremely difficult to tell it's not bone. The majority of sellers don't have a clue to start with so don't be too hard on them. You didn't know. What makes you think they should know just because they're the seller. Look at the other items they have for sale. If it's doll clothes and old oil cans (anything but knives), most likely it's not deceit but an honest mistake. Even some that sell a lot of knives don't know the difference.

I'm no expert by any means and get fooled now and then. When I do get fooled, I'm more disappointed with myself than I am the seller and I try to make it a learning experience.

The one thing you should always ask about is blade snap, especially on older knives. Lack of snap is a common fault with knives. Sometimes it's as simple as a dirty knife in need of some oil on the joints but just as often it's worn tangs and that's very difficult (impossible or very expensive) to fix. Sellers expect you to find the faults in a knife from the dozen (sometimes poor) pictures they post in the auction but you can't see snap or blade wobble in a picture so you gotta ask. I'm still looking for a way to ask about snap that Grandma Gert, who sells baby clothes, will understand.

Vitali, (Vit_213), has been able to preserve and improve the original Camillus website pages so they load faster than they did originally.

Wow sir, you certainly paint with a broad brush. To proclaim that all knife sellers on eBay are not reasonable is, in a word, foolish.

As a seller of over one thousand New York manufactured Schrade and Camillus knives on eBay, with 100% positive feedback, I felt compelled to respond to your comment. I work diligently to meet or exceed the expectations of those on the other end of every deal made on the popular auction site and I am certainly not alone in this regard. Your comment discredits and demeans the work that we do to ensure that customers get exactly, if not more than, what they bargain for. In my case, it is a NY made production knife exactly as described and depicted in my listings.

anyone have an idea of the value of a #570 Camilus complete display topper from 1973 -1975 . it's a plex-a-glass display that could be attached to the top of a cabinet & has 6 folding knifes still wired to the plexy. knifes can be viewed from both sides, the Camillus logo is still there but, the individual stickers for each knife are all missing just some glue left where they were attached.

I can't help you with your question as far as worth. But it would be better if you posted your question in the Knife Related Q&A section viewforum.php?f=4. Just scroll to the bottom and click on the "New Topic" tab and type in your question.

It would also be nice if you could post some pictures as it would give a little more visual information. Especially seeing which knives are in the display. A lot depends on Condition and type of knife or knives. Hope this helps some.
