PaulM,
I love that pattern, I've watched a many of them, but the right price and the right knife just never have come together yet. Maybe some day.

Here is an older yachtsman I picked up over the weekend. The Sheepsfoot has been loved and well used. A Schrade Walden more than likely built by Camillus.

Usually the nicest Waldens have nice honey brown bone like gino's knife above. This one is as red as it gets! Just came to a P.O. near me, via the Bay!

Never ceases to amaze me. My mouse pad had a lump under it. I been looking for this for a couple of weeks now. Have no idea the age.

Nice one Moss!
I use a track ball, so don't have a mouse pad.
Maybe I should get one like yours, that gives birth to old Schrades!

Thanks Dale:
When do you figure those started production, sometime in the late 70's maybe?

It's nice to find an old arched stamp, Ben!
It's nice to find such a nice lump under your mouse, moss!
What do you figure the mouse and the knife were doing in such a compromising position??

A curious couple:
It was from the onset a sharply cutting affair. What with the razor edged attacks from Penny and the continual clicks and clacks from the pushing of her paramours buttons. Their
fond trimmings were final when disturbed with the explosive eviction from their pad.

Here is my latest Cut Co, it came from up North, and actually it came from upnorth as well.
Thanks Charlie.
After the show is over & I get rested up and caught up on knife repairs for all my customers, I think I will replace that gassing celluloid with the modern equivalent of peach seed bone, (or as close as I can come to the old peach seed).

Nice one to save Charlie and Dale! Wouldn't it be nice to get a hold of that old jigging machine and get it operating again? I've heard it still exists, just don't know where.

Eric,
I would love to find a tool and dye maker that could make some carbide cutters for a Foredom.
I think I could come close to the old pattern if I could get a properly designed cutting wheel.
I have not been able to find one that cuts the right pattern and I have spent hours on the web searching sites that sell Foredom & Dremel type cutting tools.
I found an old cutter once on a list of Dremel cutters in a store.
When I tried to have them order it, they could not find any info on the cutter.
That is as close as I have come in 2+ years of looking.
Culpepper makes an RV jigging pattern that I will probably use on that knife.
It is fairly close, but not the same.

I just picked this one up
Any body now how old it is?
tang reads
Schrade
U.S.A.
863
all on main blade
no other markings

The 863 pattern was introduced in 1953 & discontinued in 1980.
Since yours is not a Schrade Walden, it was made between 1973 and 1980.
See the Research Section toward the top of the page, click on Schrade then Open Stock Knives
and you will find the info I have posted from my research.

Hope that helps,

Dale, I've heard that the peachseed cutter spun corkscrew fashion. I'd just love to see a picture of it. There doesn't seem to have been anyone since that's been able to duplicate it, which is probably a good thing in a way
Nice one Gino, I love that dark delrin, looks mighty rich!

To jig the bone with a Foredom would be hand-work and would probably not be an exact match, but I think with practice it would be possible to come close.
By doing the jigging by hand, one cut at a time, would give me the ability to be more detailed, even if the cutter is not the same as the original.
I do have a few sets of Schrade bone handles that were never put on a knife.
They are not the peach seed jigging, but a later pattern from Schrade Walden I believe.
