Dave the main blade on that EO jack is a spear point blade, and a nice one at that. A spey blade has no point, it's blade tip is a curved edge. Personally I think all spear point blades should look like that EO jack's main blade.

Say what you will but I see a Spear as a SPEAR!!!!

That's the way I see it to Dave, if were both talking about the main blade on the Schatt & Morgan EO Gowanda stamped knife that nifbuf posted. That main blade is about as much of a spear point blade as any spear point blade can get. That knife was made back when the quality knives were the usual every day standard. I personally don't see how that S & M EO jack could be improved upon.

I know this thread is not about blade patters, but the discussion reminded me of this old Ulster whittle with a very similar blade. Wouldn’t we like to see some these old fellows produced again with the big saber grind?
