This was a gift that I have enjoyed carrying. It is a Higo no Kami friction folder made in Japan. Simple design. About 4" closed.

I have always found the higonokami interesting, still haven't bought one though. Nice knife, looks very useful

This Case XX knife has been in my family for its entire life. My great uncle originally bought it and used it. Then my father carried it. Now I have it, keep it sharp and enjoy using it. It has nice red bone handles and very strong snap. The pattern is 6207 (small trapper). It is one of my favorites because of the family history.

Jtx: It's great you have maintained that knife, with its associations, for several generations.

Wow Scott that old Hammer Brand is a real beauty!! Is the opposite side bone as fine looking as the shield side? Does she have half stops?

Jtx that is a great old Case, and the family history that is attached to it makes it all the more special.

They are....yes she does have WICKED half stops!

Scott - I like both photos of that Hammer Brand, but I agree with QS and Tony that the bottom photo is best. The knife is a beauty, and I like the lighter wood prop.

JTX - nice story to go with that very fine Case.

Is it just me or is there something uniquely special about that early-mid century Case red bone? Even my 10-dot Barlows seem to have something "extra" to 'em... That is a beautiful mini-trapper and a wonderful backstory!

Thanks to everyone for all the kind comments about my Case mini-trapper. I forgot to say that when I am gone, the Case will go to my son... so he will be the fourth generation to carry it.

It's not artsy fartsy and for sure nowhere near a studio shot but I like it a lot. Maybe because I like the knives in the picture a lot.

Jerry D: I think you did a very simple thing in that photo that moved it from a nice simple shot to something much more impressive.
Don't know if you will agree, but the fact that you kept the more brightly colored knives at the end, did not break up the darker handled beauties by inserting the light handles which I would have been tempted to do. That, plus choosing a black background makes for a very distinguished result.

Completely accidental on the handle colors Garry. As for the black background, I like black because (in my opinion) it makes the knives stand out better and is a classier look. Besides black is what the case background is.
