Sweet little score, Scott.
And to find the ammo on hand. Double sweet 😁

When my dad passed away 20 some years sgo, I got all the ammo he had kept in a damp basement, some back to the 1940s and it all worked fine. Unless it was submerged, it will fire. If there is any doubt about any of it, be careful to pay attention to the noise and recoil when firing old ammo. If there would be a "squib" load in the bunch, it could leave the bullet lodged in the barrel and then if the stuck bullet is not removed with a cleaning rod the next shot fired will damage or blow up the gun.

Doc B wrote: Tue Jun 09, 2020 12:43 pm Ammo will last a really long time. I have surplus Korean war M1 Garand Ball ammo that fires fine. Tarnish is fine. I'd clean off any overt rust, if they had any...but they look good from here.

So, my question is are these safe to fire? Some have like tarnish?
The only think you have to watch out for, Scott, is the corrosive ammo produced by some of the former Eastern Block countries. Cool revolver and I bet it's a nice shooter. ::tu::

I started keeping my Kel-Tec P-11 in the car again, it's ok because I have the permit. Also had this mag holder for my Colonial Folding Navy Survival knife and it works perfectly for P-11 mags.

This is just the beginning of the new America.
In todays Socialist's Los Angeles Times, John Ridley, (A screenwriter and novelist) stated that on Tuesday night (6/9/2020) HBO Max announced it would remove "Gone With The Wind" from its movie lineup because it glorifies the Confederacy and the movie perpetuates racism.

The far left has attempted many time to control the video game industry and its violence. They always fail, why? because there is so much money in video game revenue that the left cannot compete.

Anyone else thinking this "Defund the Police" movement could be an attempt to take away firearms for any purpose and end firearm manufacturing in the USA all together except for military use? Our forefathers are rolling in their graves, but they could relate to what the crown did to them.

Steve Warden wrote: Thu May 14, 2020 11:27 am Okay, I finally have the pennies for an Uberti Cattleman II. I'll be getting the .357 caliber.
Now I'm waiting on my NJ Pistol Permit before I can get the gun.
In the meantime, I'm looking for a holster in the old west tradition that will carry an SAA 1873 Colt replica with a 5-1/2 inch barrel. I'd like to keep it under $150 for holster and belt, closer to $100 for the rig would be even better. Any ideas?
Uberti.jpg
By the way, thinking of a cross-draw. Don't know why. I've never worn a holster. Any of you guys cross draw, and why or why not?
You could try Lobo Gun Leather in Ely Minnesota but I'm afraid they're going to be out of your budget. The kid that makes the holsters used to live here in NW Iowa. He made a holster for my son and fixed my every day saddle. He also restored a 100 yr old beartrap saddle for me all really reasonable but he's hit the big time since joining Lobo. Their website is worth looking at for authentic holster styles.
I've been carrying cross draw/ calvary twist with my Pietta 1858 black powder. Not sure if Im 100 % sold yet or not. I do favor it when I'm on a horse for sure. Also tend to draw calvary twist with the hand on the side the gun is on more than cross. (I am ambidextrous...natural left handed grandpa made me shoot right handed). Not sure if it's worth 2 cents but that's about all I know about that.

Thanks Bill.
Hadn't thought about the Calvary Twist. 🤔
While not the norm, I think butt-forward looks kinda cool. I don't shoot competition and at the range I go to fast draw is prohibited, sooooo....
I'll check out the website. Thanks again!

I too am sure that this STUPID movement is the beginning of the end for the private sector to own firearms...... IF... it is allowed to happen.
Once those FOOLS find a chink in the armor, then it will be exploited. Everybody thinks (right now) that if the police departments become defunct, then the citizens will have to defend themselves. There is ANOTHER run for arms and ammo going on right now just like there was during the old boma days.
.
Well, one thing is for sure.... The good ole boys down here in the south "ain't givin' up no guns"..... SO..... stand by for the 2nd civil war. This time, the south is gonna win. We have most of the Law Enforcement and most of the Military on our side.
The looters and rioters ain't got much of a chance against REAL bullets. This whole thing is shaping up to be a HUGE mess!
.
Thanks a lot all you socialist a$$ #0!@$....
.
I hope I don't live long enough to see it happen.

My son dropped off my Father's Day present. He borrowed my 22/45 ruger last weekend and it came back in a holster he made for it. Never really thought about carrying this one but it rides like it isn't even there.
I'll have to let the other 4 kids know he set the bar pretty high this year. :D

D) All of the above
That is nice, Bill!

On a side note, I've been approved for my NJ handgun permit. Now just have to wait for the local/issuing police station to give me a call to let me know when I can come in and pick it up. Then it's off to the gun shop for a .357 SAA. Looking at the Taylor's (made by Uberti and imported) 1873 Cattleman. ::ds:: ::ds::
And the range should be opening up soon - gov'nor says outdoor non-contact sports can commence on the 22nd. Still have to wait for the base commander to give the nod to opening up the shooting range.
Can't wait!!

Congratulations Steve. You're going to have a lot of fun with your choice of gun and caliber. It is an unusual selection for concealed carry.

NJ has several types of permits.
- Standard permit: one time application, good for purchase of longarm weapons for as long as you have the permit
- Handgun permit: separate application from standard, good for purchase of only one handgun at a time (want 3 guns, need 3 permits), only good for 90 days, then must reapply. With the virus they have extended to 180 days.
- Concealed carry: haven't looked into that one

WOW... That is a lot of permits to have....
I hope they never do anything like that to us.
All we have in Mississippi is the conceal carry permit. You can use it for instant verification when purchasing hand guns, long guns or anything gun related. I think this permit is a "catch-all" since the CC permit comes with a full finger printing and an FBI background check. You even have to be re-finger printed when renewing.....
