Great shots guys. I particularly like the splash of orange in your pic at the top John, thats a cool pic. ::tu::
I was out hunting again yesterday, not seeing any deer so amused myself by snapping a few pics. Next time I'll try any remember to pack a different fixed blade so I won't be posting pics of the same one over and over. :D Maybe that will change my luck hunting too. lol

You got it doglegg,.... Osage, Bois d Arc, Hedgeapple, all the same and native to your state of Texas. Gnarly, tough and rot proof wood which you probably already know if ya ever cut any. :)

Tough wood. My Grandfather favored them for fence post. But they are hard to cut. Thanks. ::tu:: ::tu::

I believe the white material on either side of the wood might be deer antler. Right...or...?

Garry.. Some where in my addled brain I seems to remember( ::uc:: ) that it is reindeer antler.. And the wood is oak or birch???? ::shrug:: Or I could be way off on both??!! ::dang::

John I am confident you have antler. And the wood is likely oak tho birch is far more common in Scandinavian knives. My confidence on the antler is high. I had a knife with it in the past. Still, I am always open to correction by the more knowledgeable/experienced.

Garry... I am the 2nd owner and when I bought it the previous owner sent me a paper with all the info.. Don't know what happened to it!! ::facepalm::
I think you are correct on both of your assumptions though!!
