2nd picking of Banana peppers, thought I cut a few with my "new" #18 Queen from edge213. Usually the pepper stems just pop from plant but I had to use the little Queen. Didn't get a picture but I used it to also cut the peppers into rings, it's plenty sharp!

Philip do y'all ever fry up a batch of those banana peppers ?

No Philco, we haven't fried any but I'm willin' to try it! Give me a little advice on frying banana peppers, please Sir.

Just made 8 more jars of pickled pepper rings with onion and green tomatos. Have a tray of big one that I'm going to stuff and bake later today. Actually we cut a slab off the side, dig out the seeds and put the venison sausage mix in it, same as a stuffed Bell except the peppers are a lot sweeter.
Miss Joy's kitchen looks like a produce stand right now. Plenty of 'maters, peppers, pickled peppers, there even some okra layin' there some where.

Treefarmer I like to cut off the stem, split the banana pepper in half long ways and remove the seeds. Next I mix up a batter of half corn meal, half flour with enough milk to make it soupy but still a bit thick. Dip the banana pepper in the batter then fry it in veg. oil on med. heat till crispy brown. Some dip the pepper in a beaten egg before dipping in the batter but I normally don't.

wow Phillip, nice tomatos. Mine are just startin' to get a little color. 'course when you live this far north... I was just tellin' somebody that the first summer in this house I lost all my tomato plants to frost on the fourth of July.

Philco,
That sounds doable, may try that on some of the next batch. Thanks!
Bruce,
That's interesting to hear about frost on the 'mater plants on the 4th of July. Our plants are now succumbing to the heat, nightly temperatures need to remain in the low 70s at night for a fruit set on with the new blooms. Temps are not cooperating, hey it's the middle of summer.

The peppers usually go on producing till frost if we don't get tired of 'em and pull 'em up!

Holy Man Phillip, I am jealous of that harvest ! Looking good to say the least, I am actually salivating here..
Plenty of tomatoes on the vine bit bone ripe yet except a couple cherries. No ripe peppers yet either.
My squash plants are overwhelming their trellis and attempting to overtake the garden! There is one spaghetti squash plant in there, and two mini jack pumpkins.

Mike,
We've eaten 'mater sandwiches till we almost turned into a big ripe tomato! We had okra and tomatoes that was some kinda' good!
Your squash and punkin' vines look might healthy! I enjoy lookin' at the details of pictures. I see some good lookin' green beans in the bottom picture and was wondering about the solar panel on the building, is it hot water or electrical? Also that dude holdin' up the sunflower, is he an undocumented worker?

The plants between the beans and the sunflowers look like carrot tops.

I also see a nice sized green tomato. Your garden looks mighty good!
We're figuring on a fall garden, maybe some straight neck squash, a few green beans and hope to plant a row or two of the Seminole pumpkins. I sure need to downsize since we're not as spry as we once were, I just can't figure out how to get a tractor up in them raised beds that Miss Joy says are easier to care for!

Thanks for the reply Phillip! No solar panels on the Shed, just your standard tin/ aluminum garden shed.
The man standing amongst the sunflowers is indeed undocumented, but has been dubbed "Scary" by the kids, so he does have an official name. This is his 5th or 6th year in the garden, and the elements have taken their toll!
Yep, you are correct on both the carrot tops and the green beans, matter of fact I just got done harvesting a bunch, along with a couple of "Rapunzel" grape tomatoes...still waiting on the larger varieties to turn, first blush of color on a "Champion" today, but still a ways off

The garden got off to a slow start this year. After feeding the deer last year we decided that we would either fence the garden in or just buy alfalfa for the deer. So we put up a fence. Unfortunately the neighbor who normally plows for us didn't get the plot plowed so we did the best we could discing. The result is an ongoing battle with weeds since they weeds didn't get turned under enough.
First picture (taken last year) is my dad who just celebrated his 90th and my older brother along with the old Farmall C that has been around since the 40's. It was the 13th Farmall C to be manufactured.
Second picture is the garden plot with fence.
Third picture is some harvest : string beans, butter lettuce, zucchini, grape tomatoes, radishes along with a very nice SAK that was gifted to me by my friend Keith, espn77.
Last picture is my dad at far right, taken on his 90th, 7-25-17. Still going strong.

Great looking garden! A nice patch of tomatoes and corn and if they don't have enough corn all they need to do is cross the road.

That's a big corn patch! What critters are they keeping out of the garden with the electic fence?
