Late season, last chance to bird hunt for the season. A bit warm in Bladen County NC yesterday but cooled off in the evening, made the fire a welcome spot. OH

Okay, Gdogg, you got my attention. Tell this old Florida boy what's going on. I kinda' figured out the first 2 pictures but what is going on with the ice? Is that motion from flowing water or thawing ice or both? We seldom see ice except in our sweet tea.

Both TF Sebago is so large she has like a small tide shift.

On my trail monitoring yesterday I wandered off towards a dense area of pines .......maybe 20 yards from the trail.

The moment I was close to the pines......I know, you're thinking I spooked a deer....I know.
I didn't but there was clear evidence I was in their house as there was bedded down grass all over......I was like, HOLY MOLY.....

Then confirmation was added as I saw this shredded sapling right on the edge......

Wish my dad was here to share this with me....

Garddogg - love those ice fishing photos! Ice fishing is something I have never done. The closest I have ever come is when there was a heavy frost along the edge of the lake when I slid my canoe in!

The four wheeler would seem to indicate that some things are the same wherever you are. Down here there is always going to be someone who gets too far out into the mud and has to be hauled out.

Scott, that rub appears to be on a tree commonly called an Eastern Cedar, also called, more correctly, a Juniper. Most everyone calls 'em Cedar trees. I can't tell too much from the picture but it looks like there is a scar just below your knife in the middle picture that has healed up. Deer will quite often rub the same trees for several years. We find that the small pines, the size of the Cedar in the picture will usually die after a couple of seasons. It is exciting to find a bigger tree that has been "hooked" or rubbed, usually means a bigger buck. Some times I get all excited about a big rub and realize it has been "rubbed" by the bumper on the truck or something on the tractor.

Funny how life has dealt me this at my age, huh? I never woulda planned it this way, but good Lord knows I love it!!

Well today I made another investment in buying a CZ 455 Varmit HB 22lr. Bolt action.
I heard great reviews on this rifle and decided to buy this gun for bench shooting.
I own six other 22 rifles and want to see how this one will match up.
Still waiting for it to arrive so I can post some pictures and give a review.

I have a 452 CZ American and love it. Bet you like that one as well.

I shot my friends American and it was a tack driver. Excited to see how this one will do.

I've got a couple of C Z pistols and I'm quite impressed with them. I've been eyeing one of those .22s myself. Please be sure to let us know how it turns out for you. Inquiring minds want to know.

I've only owned one CZ and it was a military pistol, complete with fancy holster. It seemed to be well made. Traded it for something else but had it been a .22 rifle made by CZ, I would have hopefully still be the proud owner! "Tack driver" must be a well deserved description of these rifles,everyone seems to refer to them as such. Keep the forum posted when you start shooting.

Deer hunting is finally over and look what shows up a day or so later. Had a lot of pictures of the smaller buck on both cameras but the bigger one with the split brow tine was a little shy. Maybe we'll all make it through the summer and start all over again come next Thanksgiving. It's almost time to start thawing some of this season's venison trimming and some pork shoulder to make sausage.
