Here's my Benjamin Classic .22 (495fps) air rifle. Low fps, but powerful foot lbs of energy (fpe). She hits hard out to 50 yards easily, tack driver at 26 yards.
Big plus she's a s**y lookin chic . Stock is hard Canadian maple, beautifully shaped and checkered, very comfortable to hold .
Only issue is she's a heavy weight-to-performance ratio, around 9 1/2 lbs with included scope and 1 piece mount (which is the only thing I detest on the gun ). I have decided to change out scope to a nice red dot sight. Cut the weight, and within 50 yards scope is not needed (unless I have bad eyesight ).
Nice thing about heavy guns, as you guys already know, makes for a very stable bench gun. I'll probably bipod it later, right now i'm fine shooting from bags.
One thing all Crosman/Benjamin air guns need is a trigger job. They build incredible guns for the price, most Made in America, but can't design a trigger worth shirt . Luckily it's only a $2 rc bearing/10mm screw to fix it up. And later a custom GRT-II trigger blade, around $50 total for a custom, Made in USA, trigger blade. Other then that she's a perfect tack driver/pest control rifle.
Did some general pellet testing @26 yards last time we were out. Around 15-20 km rear wind.
Crosman Premier 14.3gr Hollowpoints rose consistently 1ft @ 26 yards, scope at 0 on the 5 line.
Stoeger X-Hunt 15.74gr Pointed dead-on @ 26 yards, scope at 5 on the 5 line.
Stoeger X-Field 14.66gr Rounds dead-on @26 yards, scope at 5 on the 5 line.
From all the shooting I've done so far, I think this gun likes Stoegers the best, consistently over time. I've probably put over 30 rounds of each since buying gun/ammo. More shooting when it warms up will help me determine what works best.
