I was almost afraid that the knife wouldn't be right somehow, but everything about it says "authentic" to me. The file work is old & beautiful. I am one happy knifegirl!

It looked good to me, I had it saved but didn't bid, I got busy and forgot about it.It has got to be rare in any condition, let alone one that nice.

Thanks Jim as was I a little shocked to open the knife to see the beautiful tang stamp. As I love the old Tidioute knive due to me only being 20 mins up the river.

Bret & I picked this one up from our good friend Jack at a gun show. He knows that I look for old PA knives & when he finds one, he usually gives me a chance at it.

Both blades are marked Kane Cutlery Co, Kane PA, even if hard to read. Too me, it certainly looks like an old Case knife. Bret and I were debating what this pattern would be named? Perhaps an early version of a copperhead?

That's no doubt the nicest Kane PA knife I have ever seen. Very nice example. Love it

I bought this at Lewisburg this weekend. Hukill-Hunter was a hardware wholesale firm in Pittsburgh c1902. I haven't seen too many knives with their marking.

Oh me oh my!! An old Seahorse(?) Wharnnie Whittler with wonderful jigged bone handles. Sure don't get any better than that Great find

Thanks, T.J.! I couldn't put it down when I picked it up. I actually had to find the knife dealer because he had wondered off from his table. He was all "dang it"....because he wasn't excited about selling it. He knows me pretty well & knew that if it was in my hands, I was buying it.

I ran across a Case on the bay in the same pattern. Springville NY was from 1912-1915. Kane Cutlery was from the same time period, 1910-1916. I thought it was interesting...

Nice old Kane Bret and Cathy. Both look like identical patterns and surely have copperhead shaped bolster. Just saw the Case Springville went for $280. Slim

And you thought this thread was finally dead!!! I will breath some life back into it. Not made in PA but an interesting twist. My hometown is Warren PA and for 40 years of knife passion I have never seen one of these I researched the Caro name and found he was a well respected barber and owned a supple company in Warren What I really like is the KEYSTONE emblem on the tang which is the symbol of Pennsylvania The name ALLEGHENY reflects the Warren area which is in the heart of the Allegheny National forest. You can see why I had to have it!

I just can't stand to let this thread get buried in forum. This thread alone is a tribute to the knives from the Pennsylvania and a history lesson in its self. Here is a pic I posted in another thread but wanted the gang to see it hear too.

these are the box top labels to some rarely seen Pa related knife companies. I particularly like the black label for the Second Tidioute Cutlery Company. I have NEVER seen this before. A rare piece for sure. The script PENN CUTLERY is new to me too. double click the pic to enlarge

Very nice display of labels, PAknives. I can't even begin to imagine where you would find stuff like that.
