Mike I've raised enough gardens to know you've put a lot of work into that one. It looks great. I have an appreciation for a well groomed garden. Thanks for sharing yours. I sure miss having one.

The Swiss Chard leaves were starting to get a little overgrown and bitter...so I used the large toothpick to cut them all back today, so they will.grow some more tasty young leaves...

Something is happening to our Bell and Jalipeno peppers, they are all loosing their leaves and look like they are dying. ::shrug:: The banana peppers are doing ok as are the various tomato plants. Picked this grocery bag full of banana peppers between showers this am. Several measure 8 inches and we will stuff them with some venison sausage spiced up. The rest will be cut up and we will add sliced green tomatoes and sliced onions to make some good pickled peppers. ::tu:: I used my light weight, SAK, chisel ground, floral knife to harvest this batch.

Sorry to hear your pepp plants are sick Phillip...is there by chance a deficiency in the soil? Too much or not enough nitrogen? Did u try fertilizing them at all? ::shrug::

Mike, they are planted in raised beds that have been filled with mushroom compost over and over for many years, this past spring we added a mix of mushroom and pine bark compost from a local nursery. They put a loader scoop of the pine bark mix in the back of the truck, then added a scoop of the hot mushroom compost and finally another bucket full of the pine bark mix. (The mushroom compost is so hot, literally, it must air out for several days before one can plant in it.) This combo was shoveled into the existing beds, peppers grew well at first then started dying back. The several varieties of tomatoes and the banana peppers seem to be doing well. ::shrug:: A small amount of 13-13-13 was added around each plant, not enough to burn them. One of them things, I guess.

Hopefully your plants are recovering Phillip, sometimes nature can be fickle like that.

Trimmed a few tomato stickers on the Orange Oxheart plant this evening...

One thing I can say 313 Mike.......It does me Good to see you got your kids into growing and working in a garden 8)
When I was kid, my Dad used to tell me "One day you will see people not even have one"! And I am seeing that more and more. Our Co-Op even has a clothing department now. Overalls are 60 bucks, plus tax!

Speaking of overalls, I've always wanted to get some to wear around but the cost always drove me away. Is the $60 you quoted about what a guy should expect to pay for a good pair? What brands do you favor?

Hey Dude, how you been? Carharts is what they selling and Libertys, they are around 35. Bass Pro has the Carharts also. Of course Walmart sell the Libertys. There is a place in Knoxville called Rural King (2nd Largest gun dealer in the USA ::sneaky:: don't tell The Boss ) , I found KEY Brand there for 19 plus tax and that is where I get mine now. The kids call it the Ellie Mae style, it is even a Fashion Statement now  .

Overalls and carpenter style are all I wear anymore except for funerals and Sunday. BTW: Rural King has a website and check RK Guns.

Take Care

Thanks, 9-Ball! I appreciate the info. You'd think I would have been wearing them before as big and as old as I am but I never had a pair since I growed up.

Rick, it's good to see you pokin' your head up here.

Ray, is it safe to assume you're talking about bib overalls?

And while we're here, my tomatoes are growing. Looks like I'm going to have a fine crop sometime in August.

My tomater plants are beat down by the heat. I'm going to stub them off and see if can get some fall tomaters out of them.

Nice looking plant Jerry....is that another one of the pinks you grew last year?
Regarding the bibs, I used to wear them when I was a teen for outdoor work, really like the way they stay up without need of a belt! Nowadays my lovely wife scowls at me whenever I mention getting a pair... ::teary_eyes::

Did you win that knife? It looks to me like the raffle is the only way you could get one. I didn't see anyplace on the website where you could buy one but the raffle drawing isn't until Saturday July 29th.

Oops, now I see there is 6  That is upside down. ::groove::
From what I have seen in the past drawings, collectors do not win the knives. ::nod::
