Got my first issue of Knife World!

You guys can turn out some great photos. I'm especially jealous of the outdoors shots. Some of the photos have the knife on top of a post with a barn or a forest behind it. The knife looks as big as a barn! That one really impressed me. I don't have the feel for outdoors knife phots, it's very difficult. But I do like to fool around inside with a light tent. Recently I started playing with colored led flashlights as an additional light source. I even covered the lens with a piece of shower curtain left over from building my light tent. Anyway, I got kinda excited over some of the shots. These are not the normal way knives are usually shown.

Very cool, Rustle. That is the kind of work the professional designers at our plant do. It is way different from the naturalistic work that most of the AAPK photographers are so adept at. Keep going with it, I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Thank you Barry, still enjoyin that Barlow you sold me BTW. I'm using a Casio Exilim, whatever that means.
It has 12.1 Mega Pixels. I set the camera to BS or best shot, turn the flash off of course, I set the focus to "Super Macro" for best focusing. I set the ISO at 64, selftime at 2 seconds. Lastly, I set it on the tripod cause my hands shake too much to ever get a good enough shot. Then when I load the pics in Iphoto, I play with the sharpness and lighting little more till I like what I see. That's it. And if everything goes right, BAM!

Hey garddogg, I think you're being a little harsh on your pics. I forgot to say that I'm using a photo tent, a small one, the square kind.
I'm pretty sure the Bail on this "KAMP-KING" Hammer Scout isn't original. Green Zebra!

I love those Kamp Kings,most of them around here the scales are peeled off

This photo is similar to one I posted on the GEC EDC thread, but I liked the composition enough to try it again in daylight.The flies are my own design. I think I might end up calling them "dead skunks".

Perry, I would like to know your secret to getting that degree of clarity and detail in your pictures.

Hey Barry, this pic you just posted is many times improved! Just night and day difference there my friend.
Hey Jerry and Paul, there are some tricks to what I do but nothin major I don't think.
1st I keep my shutter at 64 slower opening to get the most out of a shot, 2nd I set my camera to the Super Macro then I use a tripod for no shaking hands. I set the timer for 2 seconds then there's this feature on my camera that allows for Best Shot or the BS button. No comment there! I also use a lighting tent and 2 external lights on either side.

... and there you have it. By slowing his shutter down to 1/64, the aperture stops way down to compensate, which (as you know) results in greater depth of field ... add an "effective" macro lens by using macro setting, non-specular light sources (tent), and then avoid camera shake by using a tripod and tripping the shutter with the self timer vice manually pressing the shutter, and our friend Perry is doing everything right.

Nothing much - just perfect technique and execution!
