Circled this 'un in the Shepard Hills catalog and left it for the wife to "find".
Of course I won't get it until Christmas morning . . .
Sweet.

This Mttech is on it's way to me. It was too inexpensive to pass up.
That’s one bad looking knife for sure!
And the patriotic one is cool too! You’re in a roll!

That's when I say...,"Although I am not yet sure what I have done or said wrong, I'd like the chance to go to my room and think about it for a while."

See then, you can duck out of sight before it get's too "Hot in the Kitchen" & take a nap.

I love naps!

Just picked up another "LIMIITED--ADDITION". MOP pen knife. Cool little story about how I got it for €6.60 shipped. Seller was asking €6 starting bid plus €1.60 for shipping or best offer. I offered €3 but nothing happend & the offer time ran out.

I asked for a counter offer from the seller. But again, nothing happend.
So I made a second offer of €5 with a note.
I told the seller I wanted the knife because next year is our 30th Wedding Anniversary & that's the Pearl Anniversary. The seller wrote back saying "Hmmmmmm, how could I say no to that? Although I should keep it now, next year is our 30th Anniversary too."
Clean little MOP pen for €6.60.

Works for me.

Starting to spend that Christmas money...
These two Nisaku knives had typically only been marketed in Japan and were often $40-50. The US importer had ceased selling them and was clearing them out for $15 each.
Nisaku's field knife line is derived from their plastic-handle Hori Hori, but with flat standard cutting blades, as opposed to the "trowel" of a Hori Hori. Both have 7.5" inch blades--pretty poor for utility use, but big enough for heavy chopping.
The steel used is DSR-1K6, equivalent to AUS-6, and with an HRC of 58. I have had good luck with older Japanese-made folders I've got with AUS-6 blades, so it should hold up to heavy use.
I had originally wanted the chisel-tip version, as I wanted something like a dive knife for hard use, but with a blade that could actually take a decent edge that wasn't Becker or Eickhorn priced and not Chinese made.
It is called the Mizukatana. I figure for light prying and scraping, the chisel tip will get the job done.
However, for the same price and free shipping, I added the pointed blade "Bowie" as well.
The pointed blade Rikugatana is apparently not AUS-6 like the chisel tip model, but at $15, a heckuva lot cheaper than the part-serrated Kabar.

Officially my first purchases for the new year.
I found a place that had a 40% off everything sale for New Year's. However, they were odd in that some items were well above MSRP, others at MSRP. I only bought a couple of things I wanted that were MSRP.
Leatherman Bond. Lost the one I bought (the first production run, actually) when they first came out and had tried other tools. Nothing other than the Rebar really matched it, and that's "temporarily missing". I paid the $50 MSRP when it was new--got this one for $35. I'm still on the fence about adding a Free pocket clip back on this one, as I lost my Bond solely because of it.
The same place had the BMC Toys/Timmee Toys Plastic Army Women. Basically, it is a "gender-flipped" set, as all of the soldiers are women (except it seems the stretcher-bearers are male). However, it is also the only current set they offer that includes any kind of medic--there is a nurse, a team of stretcher-bearers, as well as a kneeling medic in action. I bought it for the medical personnel as well as the working dog and handler. It also appears that there is a version of Rosie the Riveter included.
Timmee's MSRP was $15, and this retailer was selling it for $18. I paid $11, which is less than half what the price including shipping would've been from Timmee direct.
Timmee Toys/BMC is one of the last toy companies in the US that still makes things here--and they are a direct descendent of Processed Plastics.
This set I'm leaving as-is. However, I plan to buy several more Timmee items this year, and customizing and painting some of them are on my agenda.

I've wanted a bit older German-made knife for an EDC. I wanted something that was new enough to where I didn't care about using it (this one appears to be '70s-80s) and is not even close to mint condition (a little beat up, but not bad). I wanted to avoid synthetic handles, too. I have no excuse to NOT carry this one. Last German-made, stag-handle knife I bought ended up getting stashed not long after I bought it (German Boker stag penknife).
Edge Mark (Solingen, Germany) 10-243 Stockman; in what I think may be stag handles. Total cost, $17. I have a bit older "Edge Brand" 460 my Granddad gave me, which is a small stag handle fixed blade with about a 3.5" blade.
Needs just a tiny bit of work (stabilizing a couple of small cracks, replacing the shield), but nothing that shouldn't be a complicated, drawn-out repair.
Anyone got any idea who could have made this for Gutmann?
