If anyone has never experienced a well made Bowie but perhaps has toyed with the idea of getting one, I would highly recommend this Bark River iteration. It is a high value knife for a comparatively modest amount of money; around $ 300. It is a lot of knife for the money and includes A2 tool steel. A2 is what the late Phil Hartsfield used for his famously strong blades.

Very nice John! I don't think I've ever seen a Buck knife that doesn't have a metal pommel, and I'm thinking I really like the look!
