Went to a knife show about 50 miles from me today. Was refreshing to get out to one for sure. Met some good folks and there were some decent deals around. Picked this one up while I was there. A 1971 Case 6143 Big Daddy Barlow pattern in Red Bone. Blade is tight with awesome snap. Does have some scratches & spotting, but are full and sharp. The Red Bone Handles are very nice with no cracks.

Gorgeous, congrats, consider yourself lucky too, they cancelled all the knife shows I go to out here on the West Coast. Big bummer, glad you don't have that problem. Such pretty bones too.
Appreciate it I-man.

Picked this up a few months ago but didn't really look at it too much. A Case Tested XX stamping I don't see very often. The scales are a black plastic much like the rough black. I think this was one of Case's "economy" offerings at the time. Never used and still has factory edge.
Anyone have any info on these? Steve still around these parts?
Never seen a Stamp like that, it’s def a real stamp, nice and clean. Very cool

It’s one of those stamps you overlook on the charts because you just never see them. If you ever move that .. interested.

Picked up a fantastic discontinued pattern recently ... for a song. It's a 199 1/2, single blade, civil war commemorative. It was rough, and I got her all fixed up ... what a great knife. Has that awesome snap that just vibrates in your hand & for some reason they got the heat treat just right - this one takes a far better edge than most other Case's I have do ... it's "sticky" sharp. I like the large frame and thin profile of the single blade pattern. I find I'm carrying it alot - really a super nice knife that should have never been discontinued ...
PS - I think it must have been a factory second, as the Case tang stamp has been ground over.

A factory 2nd that becomes a Lansky first. A reflection on what knives in the early days looked like. Congrats John.

Added this unused Case XX era pruner to the pile this week, some age spots and beautiful bone with orange to it.

Pretty sure that knife was made on contract for Case, maybe by Camillus. I've got the info here somewhere - if the power ever comes back on again I'll go find it.
Maybe Steve Pfeiffer will see this before then.

You think this is a -31 1/2 pattern?

No it would be a 31. (A 1/2 would indicate a clip master blade.). Fonzie may be correct about it being an economy version though, or it might be a WWII made knife. I can't recall, the contract knives might have been done later - I just recall some 31s were made by Camillus. Going by memory here which is risky.
Sitting here in the dark with a coat and blankets, no internet so typing this on my phone.

Just about like camping out in the winter.

Very cool knife, John! Is that basically a single blade 31 1/2 or a 35 1/2? Either way, it's a great pattern..

Thanks, Ken. We're getting snow here, supposedly changing over to sleet/freezing rain later. Take care!

It's Burnt Oatmeal Bone. It comes in a couple of different jigging patterns but they still call it Burnt Oatmeal.

How do you like the 6240 pattern, Mike?
I have these two (bottom knife with Wharncliffe secondary is a 1990 1st Issue)...they're bigger than I expected...kind of like a "Monster Peanut"!
