Here's another McClung label.

Those are awesome labels Mike! Thanks for sharing them! This answers a few questions I had on how the axes were labeled.

I have several doubles a bunch of singles and a couple hatchets. I haven't moved many pics from PB to my computer yet. I was going through my doubles on another site, so I have a pic or two . Off the top of my head I have an American Beauty with leather scabbard that was my wife's grand fathers. A near mint Collins with "Genuine Collins Hickory" still readable on the handle, a True Temper Kelly Perfect, a short handled Plumb, may be a boys ax. I have been told that foresters carried short handled doubles, last an old Craftsman. I haven't pulled out any of my singles yet, may be some surprises, and one old Plumb hatchet that I have a pic of, Joe.

Junebug- that is a 1950's Marble's Safety Axe ya got there minus the guard
you can tell by the 2 screw set and scales

That Blue Devil axe is a dandy !!! Note the little curve in the handle at the end
to give you extra chopping power vs a straight handle

Nice doubles, the small plumb is commonly referred to as a cruiser axe, I have a couple they are handy little buggers

Thanks MM, one of the fellows on the Arboristsite I hang out on said the same thing. I don't think I had ever heard the term cruiser before. It is a handy little ax, Joe.

Not a collector but when you find them at estate sales for less than $10.00 each it's hard to turn down.

Because I have no garage, shed or storage unit I keep these in the back of my 2003 Yukon, but brought them in for
some rust removal and sharpening.

I'm always looking for hatchet and axes at every Yard sale and flea market. I've got several. I have a couple really old axe heads that were dug up on farm land. I'll post pics later.

picked up a Marble's # 2 1/2 the other day from a guy that was selling
odd items in a lot in my town. I got it for 2 dollars. I've always
wanted one of these ever since I was a kid.(I'm 72 now) anyway, I
cleaned it up a bit.(carefully) The guy didn't know what it was or where
it came from. It looked like it was dropped in the forest or something
for some time. I would love to have it restored, or at least get another
blade cover for it. It still has the original wood handles and brass screws.
I looked up a similar axe that had 3 screws and bakelite handles. he said
these hatchets where only made from 1906 to 1910. I haven't seen one with
2 brass screws and wood handle inserts before.
Everything works! the nail puller and part of the blade cover snaps out
sharply and also the flat spring although rusted, still works OK. A true
testament for things made to last. Would you know someone who could
supply the blade cover part or possibly do restore work? Please see
attached photos. I'm not a collector, just like using fine well made
tools and knives.Thank you very much in advance. Roger .

Thank you for the reply. I noticed on the edge cover arm that the patent date is 1898. I'm guessing that it might be a first run or close to that. at least early 1900's considering the wooden handles. Thank you so much for the reply, Roger.

Picked up a Wetterlings SAB and an Estwing at the estate sale this past weekend!

Scott the Estwing has the leather gone on the handle. Do you plan to replace them or how will you fix it? Thanks.

Yup.....gonna fill it with cardboard, then add paracord....

All this cold rainy weather I've been playing with my axes. I found this old Plum on a stack of Black Walnut I have. A friend was looking for a blank for a rifle stock. It's a shame this thing lived outside for many years. There wasn't a single ding on the poll and what was left of the edge looked like it had never been sharpened. Don't remember where it came from, I may have found it metal detecting, Joe.

So, I tried using "Evapo-Rust" on it and it did a pretty good job. Then I tried a sanding wheel on the Dremel and got some shiny steel, so I switched to a 60 grit flap disc on my angle grinder, and the next thing you know, I could see my reflection. Switched to 80 grit and got better. I had the edge to where I could shave hair on my arm, so I took the Dremel and knocked the edge off till I'm done. The paln is to Brown it, fill the Plumb logo with white or red, and hang it on a custom Ash handle. I'm thinking of about a 13" handle. I've got enough Ash sapwood to last the rest of my life, Joe.

Here's a couple more. The one on the left is a Plumb, and the right is an early Craftsman with the double oval logo. I like to throw all of my axes so these will be hung on custom Ash hafts, Joe.

I hung this SAW Wetterlings (in above shown pic) and it took a beating yesterday as one of my boys was using it!

I put some cardboard on Estwing handle and wrapped with paracord.....we'll see how long it lasts....

Kinda has a Zombie flair to it......LOL

A friend of mine is into restoring axes, he came over a couple weeks ago and looked at all of my stuff. There was a no name Michigan in my shed he liked so I told him to take it. He asked if he could take my little Plumb Cruiser too. He brought it back yesterday. It's on a HouseHandle, he hand shaved it octagonal. He was going to rust blue it, but after cleaning it didn't need it. He put a couple spots of cold blue to even it out. That octagonal haft is sooo sweet I'll probably never use a round one again. This is my primary throwing ax so he didn't put a razor edge on it, but it is still sharp. I'm a happy camper, even if it's not a camp ax, Joe.
