This one is on the way...a Michael Prater / Painted Pony. Red Jasper, Pearl, Gold Vein Lapis, Chevron spacers w/ etched bolsters.

Thanks, David. I've always liked Prater's work and have thought of getting one of his pieces many times, but most were out of my wallet size. However, I sold many of my Kalinga's, so had the funds to reach out and touch this one. This 110 will be one of the very nicer ones MP has done in a long while...and it didn't break my wallet in half.

PS: The knife in the photo is probably not the one I'll be getting. He's only making 30 of these, so my final appearance could be much different, albeit, the same design work.

I need an inexpensive small, pocketable, grippy lockback with reasonable steel to carry and use around the garden and yard. Settled on a Klein Tools lightweight lockback with a 2 3/8" drop point blade, 58-59 Rockwell.

I have used the heck out of both the drop point and hawkbill, and they take jobs one shouldn't really take on with a knife that's under 3.5" closed (which is what qualifies as a shorts and sweatpants knife normally reserved for around-the-house chores)The AUS-8 is really tough and doesn't take much to get an edge back on. The one complain I will make is that why they don't have dual thumb studs. I'm left-handed but use my knife ambidextrously. But, both of mine I have the studs set up for left-handed carry.
BTW, they're made by Moki, and were formerly known as the Gemini series before they started exclusively making them for Klein.

When my dad come back from Germany in 1945 he had 2 P38,s and a German Lugar in his duffel bag. I still have the lugar.

A couple of pretty cheap fixed blades.

A $12 PAL RH-70. Really dirty and with a rusted blade, but I think it'll clean up into a nice user. At 8" OAL, with I'm guessing a 4-inch blade, it hits my sweet spot for a fixed blade.

What is going on with the tang stamp?
Finnish-made Fiskars, from the 1960s. 5" blade about 2mm thick. The Puukkos are a lot harder to find than the Normark fillet knives, which were really popular in their day. I really like the "dangler' on the sheath. Should make it a really good working knife.

I know very little about fixed blades (except that I like my Morakniv Garberg), but it seems you got yourself some nice ones.

Picked up a Sears Craftsman 9481 Trapper today. First one I've ever seen on German eBay. Looks like it's in pretty good condition. Should be a nice EDC. Anybody know who made these & when? Or if they used CV steel?

I don't know for a fact, but it looks very much like a Schrade trapper to me. They did make some Craftsman knives, so it is possible.
Hopefully someone who knows more will come along soon with a definitive answer.

Thanks Reverand! Appreciate your comment & Info. Schrade is the first brand that comes to my mind when I look at it as well. Must be the looks of the saw cut delrin. Looks a lot like the handles on one of my Coast brand knives.

Been wanting this Gerber set for quite some time, and finally picked one up.

Gerber just recently added the Pledge to the regular lineup this month, but it debuted last Christmas season in a Walmart-exclusive gift set along with a Mini Paraframe and Shard pry tool.

Walmart had just knocked $3 off the price (seems like they're keeping the set around--it's not a Christmas-only item anymore), making it just under $20. Gerber's MSRP on the Pledge as a standalone knife is $25. So, I paid $5 less, and got the Mini Paraframe and Shard basically for free.

The Pledge may be a bit big, however--blade is 3.7" long. I normally don't carry anything with more than a 3" blade--despite no real knife laws concerning blade length.
