Helping a friend do a cleanup after a mini tornado came through and blew, the entire yard all over the place. I was kneeling down about to cut the cord of the humidifier to recycle it. Well, you can see in the picture, the tarp in the background and you can see my knife and the cord I am about to cut...

now look closely at the background, where I was kneeling about 10" from the tarp.....
Yuuuuuuuuccccckkkkk!
Shoot it!

I think my friend and I looked at the snake and responded in a calm manner and then we realized that between the 3 of us all we were saying is; give peace a chance..... ☮ ....

...Of course the snake might not always agree with that philosophy....

Ah yes.
Refer to my previous statement. Or, considering the theme of the forum...knives out! Or that other bush whacker thing you posted. That'd do the trick.

It's even got a custom designed snake head remover on the back side
That's real cool btw. At first you'd think novelty, but then you see the leather stack handle and look closer and realize it's built like a tank.

This Rite Edge is made in China, but my Grampa gave it to me, and it's well suited for the job, so I brought it with on a foraging hike today. My family and I walked some trails on what is called the Niagara Escarpment. Gathered hickory nuts and wild plums.

Great post, great picture, I researched Niagara escarpment, thanks for the enlightenment.
So, "chicken of the woods" mushroom?

Yep. Tastes like chicken. Well actually the flavor was mild, almost tasteless. It's a meaty texture like chicken though, and anything is good battered and deep fried.
I found it just at a local park, and it got us in the foraging mood, so we went on a hike.
